awesome fart sounds DCramer I love the freq shifter in NI Massive.
This has a tonne more control...some of the sounds in there would be insane in a full blown electronic/bass music.

The latest version is certainly more eurorack-friendly than Dcramer's unit (which is 8" deep). The new version is only 3" deep, and has no wires. Here are a couple pix (for more info, head on over to the "Something New from Doc Sketchy" thread). I'm selling them for $300 US plus shipping ($30 US to USA/Canada, $50 US internationally). They will be available in about three weeks (around the end of March), because I am going to sell them with snazzy new silkscreened panels, instead of the gnarly Lazertran ones as shown in the picture, and the guy who is going to help me make them can't help me for a couple of weeks. (Incidentally, these are built like the proverbial brick shithouse, as I'm sure you will agree from the photos.)

Yes sadly I have no case that are that deep. I would love this module. It seems like it would be hard to make it less deep. Maybe having it wider ?
Maybe we need to make a case just for it because I rly love the sound haha

Hmmm, I happen to love Dr. Sketch-n-Etch's other designs but I'm not sure I have a deep enough case either! Is the 3" depth with power connector or is that in addition?

Wow, I’ve been wanting a frequency shifter! Count me in! I’m assuming that’ll fit in a Doepfer case, as I have modules with perpendicular boards that I’m pretty sure go deeper.

But I think 3" is easy enough to fit unless you only have skiffs. Doepfer cases definitely have enough room. They have ~10-11 cm depth that's usable for modules, which is a little more than 4".

Very excited about this module by the way. Definitely would love to buy one

My ‘test build’ is actually quite roomy behind the pots and jacks and wired on ‘old school’ style.

If I ever need to cram it into a smaller case I might be able reorient the boards so that they fit behind other much shallower modules.

Of course it’d be a bitch to get them out, but I never sell anything!

No, it's not (nor has it been available for several years). Only other analogue frequency I know of is the Analogue Systems Bode Freq. Shifter.

I actually have one of the old, original Doepfer Frequency Shifters and it also has tons of stuff behind the panel.
Mines pretty old and fragile, tends to bleed a bit (I’ve trimmed it as per the manual) and can’t go down into phasing territory with its internal oscillator. (There’s a complex mod that lets you patch in Quadrature LFOs)

The cool thing about the Doepfer is that if you get the CV input pot just right (about 2:00 o’clock on mine) the internal OSC will track 1v/Oct letting you do the ‘tracked modulator’ patch that I show in the Vid. That’s what first attracted me to the Sketchy version; It’s a snap to do, just pop in two different audio oscillators, both tracking the same CV (or two different Seq channels tuned to your liking!) and wiggle away.
I’ve spent tons of time doing little experiments with the Freq, creating all sorts of oddball timbres, “fine ham abounds”

Given that my Doepfer is very old and creaky it didn’t seem fair to do a comparison with the beefy youthful Freq Shift and it’s ‘bespoke hand selected Dome Filter parts’ and glassy clean output, still made gooey-squishy by being hand soldered by cranky Doc in a shed outback
(Mine even came with a printout, detailing the efficiency of my specific Dome Filterage, it’s so hipster I’m now sporting a ‘man bun’ )

The Tokyo Tape Music Center makes a clone of the Buchla 100 Model 185 Frequency Shifter, but it is nearly twice the price and not as feature-laden.

Hey Frequency Shifter enthusiasts,

Here's the deal: I can't make this unit with any less PCB real estate than I'm using now. If I made this module 4" wide (20HP) then I could do it all on two PCBs, and it would get about 1" less deep. However, that's a lot of panel space for 4 pots, 1 switch and 8 jacks.

I'm going to look for some smaller sockets with long leads (that can be used to plug in on the board below) -- the ones I'm using are fairly long. However, even if I can find something that's 0.1 or 0.2" shorter, that will only save about 0.6" of thickness, getting it down to 2.5" or so, which is probably still too thick for many.

EDIT: It looks like Tayda have the thing I'm looking for (which I couldn't find on Digikey, although there were hundreds of options, all of them bad). I have to do a huge Tayda order, so I'll order a few hundred new connectors and see how much depth I can eliminate.

Just for shits and giggles, though, could one of you actually measure your case and tell me how deep this thing can be to fit? I see that the Intellijel Palette Case is only 45mm deep, so there's no way that my module would ever fit in that.

Actually, looking at Tayda, I see that the sockets come in right-angle versions. Hence, with a bit of engineering, I could make it so that the Translator board slides sideways onto the panel board pins, and that would eliminate a good 1/2" right there. Then, with shorter stackable headers on the other boards, I could take an inch off the thickness. I'll order some of those and see what I can do.

I don't mind the current depth, myself, uLFOs are almost that deep and I have two of those in this DIY case already.

Where can I buy one? Really wanted an Cwejman fsh but that will probably and sadly never happen now. This looks great, is this similar in design to something else like the bode?
