Excited to get mine.
Any difference between BOM from this one and the older version?

I omited RMS mode to save space and to use small switches, trimmed att/rel longer - now 0.5-35 and 5-350 ms/db (shorter rates - in auto mode), made threshold up to 13 dBu to have no compression at max threshold when 5V signal level (it's 13.2 dBu).
Not many changes in big parts, mostly in resistors.
And all switches now are sub-mini DPDT on-on.

This is sample i recorded. Sounds good but my 9090 clone kick is very noisy. Compressor itself doesn't produses noise at all.

First half - no compression, second half - compression applied.

L-1 Microcompressor Stereo assembled and tested. Works correct. :tu:

I have now only 8 panels and still wait for SMD parts from Farnell for these boards.
So I can take now preorders for 8 kits. Shipping - next week.

More panels will be later - in 3 weeks.

All paid orders are shipped. Check emails for a tracking numbers.

I'm sorry for shipping delay and thank you for patience.

I just waited for parts from Farnell. Belarus is under embargo for electronic parts and I everytime fill in forms for a license. Earlier it was quick, I just scanned and sent. But this time they 40 days decided will I make weapons from these parts or no. And they didn't sent until I started to become hysterical.

But now i made killer weapon for your minds. :hihi:

Kits are in stock. please order, will ship next day.

Who want assembled, please order too. I'm making several, can ship next week.

I need to explain one feature.
Bypass switch works together with Ext. sidechain switch. When switch is in bypass position you will hear INs at the OUTs, if ext. sidechain switch is off.
When ext. sidechain is on, you will hear what is at SDCH in at the OUTs.

After having lots of pleasure with Alex's AC/DC Mixer and Quad VCA, I got the Stereo Microcompressor kit - PCB's, panels and SMD part done.
First of all I was very impressed by industrial quality of PCB's and panels - everything is well thought through, everything fits perfectly and the assembled module does not look as a DIY a slightest bit.
I had a couple of questions and Alex responded immediately, putting me back on the right path.
Sonically this microcompressor definitely belongs to a high class studio equipment; L-1's modules are there right at the top together with Cweiman and a very few others.
So if you need an audio compressor in your eurorack - this is the one to go, and assembly and calibration are not difficult.

I'm putting together a Mouser order for the parts I need, and I'm having a little trouble matching the LED exactly. Your Farnell part is a T1 (3mm) red LED (700nm) with a forward voltage of 2.1V, forward current of 20mA and a luminous intensity of 800μcd.

I have found this one at Mouser, which matches in most respects except that the luminous intensity is 2.4mcd (and the viewing angle is narrower). Other possible matches at Mouser are even brighter. I don't want it to be blindingly bright -- is there some adjustment that I can make during assembly, or will the trimmer be helpful with that?

Only the forward voltage here does matter. Around 2V will be ok.

Third diode may be any which is more pleasant for your eyes.

Today my friend, a soundenginer, visited me to replace a couple of broken caps in the pair of Distressors.
Distressor is a mono compressor, so a pair is needed for stereo action. Pair worth $2700 with list price $3000. So it's 10 times more expensive than L-1 Microcompressor Stereo, or 20 times if to make it DIY.

www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ELI8S

Then I persuaded him to compare them to L-1 Microcompressor Stereo and to record something. First we experimented with synth sounds but he choosen drum sample for record. This sample was already compressed much, so he removed peaks and made the sound's 'body' louder in his record.
Then I made the same using Microcompressor. I tried to make maximum possible identical sound parameters to have similar compression as in his record. To make this I used AUTO position att/rel switch, and PEAK position auto/peak switch. This mode makes very short attack, it removes peaks, sound's 'body' is possible to make loud as wanted using THRESHOLD knob. I tried to make this loudness equal to his record.
Often we need upside-down - to make attack of a sound sharper and cut 'body'. Manual att/rel mode of the Microcompressor can be used for this. I usually use peak/auto switch in PEAK position for drums and in AUTO for notes.
This is record. I didn't uploaded it on Soundcloud to save quality.
It's 24-bit 44.1 KHz.
Three parts divided with silence. First - initial sample, second - compressed with a pair od Distressors, third - compressed with the L-1 Microcompressor Stereo.

There are links to Farnell in the partslist. It will help you sourcing.

Unfortunately no complete kits from me. Only PCB + installed SMDs (they are marked green in the partslist) + panels.
