I wish... R*S option is too pricey

does anyone know what the following means on the R*S website:

"precision KEY V output calibrated to semitones"

does this mean that the knob outputs are all quantized?

No the knobs aren’t quantized. When in keyboards mode the pads play like a keyboard in semitones
works for Darkplace Manufacturing

Hi folks,

I have one of these kits that is bubbling its way up through my backlog. I'm in a group buy for B10K and B100K pots and I'm trying to find out whether I can substitute either of those for the B50K ones in the BOM, and if so what other changes I might need to make. But in the absence of any schematic I can find this is proving tricky.

People have asked a couple of times in this topic about using B100K pots, but without any reply. Can anyone give me a definitive answer? Failing that I'll have to trace the PCB and try to deduce the circuit.

The CGS87 Programmer/Sequencer has B100K pots connected to 100K resistors, which suggests that the B50K/1M ratio in the TKB perhaps isn't crucial.

Thanks!

Oh, and if anyone should have a spare panel... :)

The TKB schematic -minus pressure output- has been online for a very long time. 3 pages. tkbpg1.gif, tkbpg2.gif and tkbpots.gif
The 1M wiper resistors feed -per row- into an inverting opamp virtual GND, with a 430K feedback. This is then inverted by a second OPA with input and feedback resistors of 430K. No need to trace or deduce.

Cool, thanks for the pointer to those schematics. :tu:
