pcbmaking.com would be the best option for printed circuit board. It designs professional PCB at cheaper price. You can place your order instantly and get free shipping. Its easy way to get your job done! Good luck!

Unfortunately I am not planning to do universal format stuff any longer :( I've gotten burned on a few projects now and can't afford to keep making stuff in universal formats :(

I will have the Mutant Drums out in another format DIY eventually. Can't say what I've got planned there yet though :) :tu:

Not that it's impossible to do...just so you know, is all :)
I plan on making my own euro panel, I like using acrylic. :tu: So I will need both PCB's.

Does this mean the end of the dotNET 4U panels as well?

It's definitely not the end of 4U for me as it's my format of choice for my own modular, but for now I don't have any new dotNET 4U panels planned. I have some new DIY things in the works that I'll be talking about a bit more over the summer :)

I've never done this and appreciate you wont be providing wiring guides but is it just a case of following the traces on the control board so you can figure out what goes where from the header pin thing?

You'll have to reverse engineer the pinout of the jacks, switches and potentiometers on the control board and run wires where they would normally have PCB mounted parts soldered in. Other than that it should be pretty easy though. There are no horrendously uncommon PCB mounted parts. Just standard pots, 3.5mm switching jacks, LEDs and some toggle switches.

Google Docs Bill of Materials is up!

I'll have the Mouser cart as well as documents for the Bassdrum soon, but, I recommend looking over this BoM at the notes I've written because there are a lot of tips for finding parts in there :)

Prototype PCBs arrived today! :D

I'll have them built and tested after Orbitals kits are done with (sometime next week I hope).

Then it's time to order production PCBs!

The panels arrived today. They turned out pretty damn nice! The cell phone camera doesn't do the orange justice. I'll be taking studio shots of the builds when done.

Now I can build the prototypes, shoot demo videos and send off for the production boards!

!!!IMPORTANT -- READ ME!!!

There are some updates to the BoM. Sorry to anyone who already ordered parts but this was necessary! The Mouser cart and Google Docs BoM are updated now. These are circuit performance improvements so they are a good thing. The hats sound even better now :)

1.) Summary of part changes to BoM from the original:

Add these resistors/caps:
+ 2x 180k
+ 1x 150k
+ 1x 470k
+ 1x 348k
+ 1x 1nF capacitor

Subtract these resistors/caps:
- 1x 300k
- 1x 220k
- 1x 680k
- 2x 560k
- 2x 1.5nF capacitor

2.) VTL5C3 will NOT work!

I initially said in the Google Docs BoM notes that VTL5C3 will work as a substitute for NSL32-SR3. This is not true and I'm sorry I typed it before. VTL5C3's resistance range and response time are not right for the circuit and it won't work right at all without modifications. If you must use them, you can try putting a 10-20k resistor in parallel with the vactrol's output resistance. I haven't tested this but it should theoretically work. I'm not promising anything though :deadbanana:

UPDATE

The prototypes are now verified and I've made any changes needed to the PCB! Time to send off for production boards. YAY! :yay:

Won't be long now! :goo: :goo: :goo: :goo: :goo:

Just the pcb for me ;o)
Hmmm... been dabbling in Electronic music & DJing for 25+ years. Collector & curator of a fairly large vintage recording studio. Ran a couple record labels featuring DJ ESP, Hakan Lidbo, Jacob London, Martin Venetjoki, Vitamin D, Chris Anderson, etc. and licensed to greats like Carl Cox, Dave Angel, Chris Simmonds, etc. Oh yeah, I'm also a builder of D.I.Y. electronics junk, including a mighty fine modular synth.
