How did you correct this?PWM wrote:spotta wrote:A fault on the actual PCB or with the build?PWM wrote:Fixed! The problem was a fault on the panel PCB..
The actual PCB. The +V pad that supplies the CGS PCB was connected to ground..
These things happen. Always check a PCB on manufacturing mistakes before populating.
Did you need to cut any traces?

This will probably be a blast from the past for everyone here but I am just getting round to building this.
I have a question about the individual out wiring. How did you guys avoid the back of the pads shorting with the metal case of the sliders? I assume that the sliders are meant to be flush with the PCB, but it seems like that would mean it was touching metal-metal.
Did everyone solder the individual outs onto the 'back' face of the control board?
I guess soldering the sliders last makes sense otherwise.

Missed this one. Apologies. I seem to remember there was a power rail trace connected to the ground-plane. I did cut this trace.jondent wrote:How did you correct this?PWM wrote:spotta wrote:A fault on the actual PCB or with the build?PWM wrote:Fixed! The problem was a fault on the panel PCB..

I'll take a look later today or tomorrow.

hello everyone, i just got my third serge resonant eq and the slider led's on this one are a bit too bright for my tastes, i'm not able to take it apart and dim them and i dont want to bother my builder friend to do it since its not that big of a deal, i was hoping there are some kind of little buchla easel style "caps" i could put on the sliders to cover up the leds? is there a particular jimmy hat that could work for these? or even if not a perfect fit, perhaps could be somehow made to work? any advice?

You could try to fit over those toggle switch caps. There widely available!lionelfischer wrote:hello everyone, i just got my third serge resonant eq and the slider led's on this one are a bit too bright for my tastes, i'm not able to take it apart and dim them and i dont want to bother my builder friend to do it since its not that big of a deal, i was hoping there are some kind of little buchla easel style "caps" i could put on the sliders to cover up the leds? is there a particular jimmy hat that could work for these? or even if not a perfect fit, perhaps could be somehow made to work? any advice?

Check my Panther CGS7xx and Panther ESxx series of modules... many of thee are CGS (of course all of the Panther CGS 7xx ARE CGS designs)Jonachi wrote:Built it and loveing it. We need more hacked cgs in euro!

isolation in outputs?
Quick question about this module -- I have one that I got secondhand.
On mine, the outputs for Lower Comb Out and Upper Comb Out bleed into each other. So with all the sliders down, I get silence, and if I lift one slider, it does come out more prominently in its respective L or U output, but it does come out in both, rather than being isolated. Same for the individual outs -- each one also gets sound from the other sliders, just less so.
Is that how it is, or is there an issue with this build?
Thanks!

Just built up this beast after greatly underestimating how much time the wiring would take. Whew!
Couple notes if anyone has yet to build - I ended up using PJ301BM jacks and they worked quite nicely. Just bend up the side ground legs and they offer a bonus of making a natural ground connection between each other - I suppose I will solder them but probably not necessary. Pretty sure one of them is touching one of the diodes which is thankfully connected to ground at that point anyway
Also, Tayda has replacement square LEDs to pop in the sliders (clear only). I went with green sliders from mouser and used the same value resistor led for all sliders with alternating green and clear leds and they're all a nice similar brightness.
Only had a quick play but was getting some fun stuff by running an individual out back into input 2. Raising that band up enough obviously brings forth runaway feedback but depending on what's going into input 1 you can also raise up the adjacent band for gentler, more controllable (speaking very relatively here, of course) feedback, too.

Re: [Shipping] - Euro Panel/Kit for Serge Resonant EQ Mk. II
We are looking for an experienced euro DIY builder who wants to trade time+labor in exchange for a Res EQ kit. Elby has re-made the CGS202 PCB, its now called the CGS522, and is made of two pcbs rather than one. We are looking for someone (maybe someone who already built the 202 version) to take our full kit, with the new PCBs, find the right docs about the 522 pcb set, build it up to test compatibility, take some pics and scope shots along the way, and document notes regarding assembly steps, BOM changes and related issues. We will use the raw material content from the rebuild test to create a new build guide, and the builder keeps to keep (and show off) the first of this DIY module made with the new CGS522 PCB set.

Dream job right there folks!
Re: [Shipping] - Euro Panel/Kit for Serge Resonant EQ Mk. II
just a question...
I seem to understand (I hope) that the individual outputs are obtained by putting a buffer at the output of the opamp of each frequency.
If this is correct then are the individual freq. output inverted in phase respect the sum output? Thank you

Hi - finishing the synthcube kit and hope to get help with a couple of questions.
1: Synthcube kit missed two components that should go in the res eq board marked "1n" - see pic 1 - could I use these?:
https://no.mouser.com/ProductDetail/KEM ... jPBA%3D%3D
2: I have the slider Sub-board v2.0 and I'm wondering where to solder the "unmarked decoupling caps 0.1uF - have I marked the correct location on pic 2?
Thanks for your help!

Re: [Shipping] - Euro Panel/Kit for Serge Resonant EQ Mk. II
I got around to building my second one of these recently (the last one was like four or five y.a.) and mounted/reversed the polarity for a keyway power header - I plugged it in and I assume I fried it. Does anyone know what needs to get replaced downstream? I have the 10 replacement IC's for the top board, and assume its the capacitors and smd resistors right next to the power header that need to be replaced? Any advice or help would be great - I am pretty good at building from instructions, but terrible at troubleshooting (and sometimes paying attention).
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Did you confirm it’s fried state by checking it with correct power? If it is I would deffo swap electrolytics and chips, the rest would probably be fine - also did you use beads or 10R resistors by the power input?
