I agree on the tape/danger thing, Andrew, and no intention of putting it in a case in this condition. I'll go with insulated lugs (instead of heatshrink) but can't find any designed for solder locally. :hmm:
I may be forced to crimp. The unit tuned to +/- 12VDC no problem.

Its the uncovered fuse that is the most dangerous (and the fact there is only one, as Roglok pointed out), just think about one end of a patchcord brushing against it. If you are holding the other end or it is plugged in somewhere.......

No, the tape was insurance, the connectors were soldered, then stuffed back in the sleeves, but is wasn't the neatest job.

But, even with the wiring proper, the fuse holder needs a cover.
Good point, Andrew.

have you seen a Powerone or condor powersupply like hbb1.5 ?
This are openframe and more dangerous as a open fuse holder here.

Cheap Christmas tree LED stripes are more Dangerous and you can buy it everywhere.

Has anyone got a photo of how they wired this for 220v (including the gnd and 0v) they would be kind enough to share?

Both images on this thread aren't much use and the Erica guide is a little lacking.

Updated PSU

Post by Girts23 » Wed Sep 06, 2017 2:54 am

Hi, guys! I felt, our V1 of the DIY PSU has become bit outdated, and, as some pointed out - dangerous because of fuse :)
Therefore we have discontinued it and replaced with a new one. It's high quality linear PSU with resettable fuses on each rail to protect the PSU from overloads (and a closed 220/110V fuse holder included in a kit) .
It comes in two versions:
1) 1,25A on each +12V and -12V rail. This version uses highly popular LM317 and LM337 voltage regulators
2) 2,5A on each +12V and -12V rail. This version uses more contemporary and powerful voltage regulators and it can be used in really large modular setups.
Both versions can be built on the same PCB, just check the schematics on components that need to be used for each configuration.

No 5v avaiable right? So will need to use an adapter on the bus or something?

Its worth noting that the "Full" V2 kit is not a full kit, as it doesn't include the transformer. It does mention this further down the product page, but of course I missed it.. Their full V1 kit did include the transformer, so I naturally assumed the V2 kit did too. Not so.

Does anyone carry this kit in the US? I will order from Latvia if necessary, but would rather get it from someone closer.

Any alternatives for the LT1085CT?

Farnell and most others no longer seem to carry them. Should have checked before ordering partial kit. :despair:

Thanks a lot!

Should have looked a bit further for that #pbf version.
5x the price of the older model, but Atleast it will work.

Can anyone help me with C8 cap. I am unsure if I need to install it or not.

It’s not in the BOM, but it’s also not mentioned in the schematic as one to be left out for the 2.5A version.
