More pictures showing the gory details of the inside and round the back. If anyone wants the front panel details then I've attached the fpd file. :tu:
Thanks so much for fpd! I think I will go with that for mine - its abgorgeous design with all the right features and hardware!

TechmanHi there, I see you live in Barnet. You didn't go to Queen Elizabeth's Boys' Grammar School by any chance? I was there from 1957-64!

No, I'm a Hampshire lad. I moved to Barnet in '89 :-)

No problem. Just make sure the hole diameters are correct for the pots you intend to use. They're a little bit big for the alpha pots I ended up using

So did you guys etch/send out for your own boards on here, or are these Jurgen's original 10 or so, or the 2 that R*S did?

R*S sold more than 2 boards in his release, more likely 20-30, as the PCB's become more economical at this quantity. Both Techman and I bought a PCB from R*S and I know some other folks that bought a PCB at the same time.

Damn, I hope he makes it more available in the future. I've got several Haible projects of his old stuff, and a 20 band vocoder sounds awesome! Have you guys emailed him about components and such that would work? He should definitely make/sell it again if you guys have a working version.

@Lauhing - I sent an email from the website a few days ago asking about another run of these boards. Hoping to hear a response soon.

Maybe if we build enough interest on here he will do another run.

Count me in for 1-board!! Who else is in??

I'll be in for one PCB too.

With the Doepfer offering discontinued and nothing else currently available even approaching this functionality, this has to be the one for me.

I reckon a better 'next-step' - if re-doing this - would be a project like Haraldswerks amazing multi-card version, rather than one massive PCB!

yeah it would have made it a lot cheaper for the pcb and easier to build if it were modular-ised. oh well. my front panel design ended up using an equivalent amount of space to the pcb so i don't really mind.

Yes please with slotcards.
Then it fits in a normal case.

Yay! I was able to get in contact with Harald, and he is going to send over a set of boards towards the end of summer.

His Vocoder is a little bigger than the JH one...

Do you know if he's doing a run of his vocoder boards or is this just a one-time thing? I would love to build a vocoder, but don't know if random source is planning another run of the haible boards...

Send him an email, his contact info is on the website. I'm ordering all the pieces of it that he has done:
-Analyzer (one with the knobs)
-Display
-synthesizer jacks)
-Input
-Power supply

All together this is about 65 boards and 300€. He is busy for the next few weeks with something but will be getting boards printed / shipping in a few weeks.

Thanks for your interest. I am only ordering boards on request. I don't have a business and cannot afford having hundreds of boards laying around. PM me or use the contact on my website if interested.

I know the guy behind Random Source. I am sure he will be glad to make another run for the Haible Vocoder if there is enough demand. Just contact and tell him.

Actually the speech was a radio program fed via an iPad.

Hi, I am new here and as my first post I would like to ask a question.
I want to start building this magic vocoder and I decided to built it with a modules system, like the elektor vocoder, an easier and less expensive way. So I bought a 3U rack with 19 slots, which will contain all the filters and input/output modules, including a pitch extractor (an extra thing and very useful). Then all controls will end into a front panel above the rack. Do you think it's a good project?

Thanks in advance
