You can get them through adafruit as well but they are a bit more expensive.

Nothing wrong with the sparkfun ones. You might want to know that that 2.95$ price is for 5 of them, so it's only 12$ for 20 of them, enough for extras if any of them don't work.

I’ve been using Prizma for a bit now and I’m liking it more and more.

There’s one (minor) thing that is still very irritating, even after using it for a while: the LEDs for steps that are switched off (no trigger) are white, that is by far the brightest ‚color‘ of all. For my eyes that is kind of a ‚reversed logic‘. Would be nice to have an option to use switched-off LEDs for unused steps.

Built mine up, and everything works fine except the top encoder. Goes haywire if you go over a certain speed. Reflowed everything on its trace and still doesn't work.

Bad encoder? Really can't replace it right now as I don't have any extras on hand.

Edit: nvm both encoders do it. Going to re-check it.

Did you get this fixed? I had a similar issue, but just with the top encoder. I replaced the encoder, which didn't fix the problem. Turned out eventually one of the ceramic caps was missing. Once that was soldered, everything worked fine.

Not yet. Planning just to reflow everything at some point. Already did the relevant caps, headers, and pins on the main IC. Thanks for the tip though.

Presumably 474-COM-12986. These are listed as being the actual Sparkfun parts (same price, even), but obviously you'll save on shipping if you get everything else through Mouser.

No. That price is for a pack of 5.

The price is ok by me, considering I had to wait like 4 months for numerous falsely advertised packs of LED to ship from China.

About to order a set from Mod Addict. Does anyone know if their chips have the latest FW? I can easily flash it myself, but I 'd like to know up front.

JEEZ! That's gorgeous. Is it completely DIY, or did you have it fabbed somewhere?

Prizma calibration trouble

Post by henrybirdseye » Wed Jun 07, 2017 11:57 am

I enjoy my Prizma, but I'm having a hell of a time calibrating it. It was just a tad out of tune, so I plug, say, the red cv into my uScale quantizer so I can see what voltage is coming out, and dial in some notes on the Prizma, and the LED indicating which note I'm sending, doesn't match the info on the uScale.

So, I go into calibration mode, and trim "ZERO" until I get 0000 in my voltmeter, then turn the upper encoder to a higher octave to tune for proper CV scaling. Trimming "V/OCT" seems to do nothing.

What am I missing?

Very nice.
I did something similar for my Anushri; it was about US$60 for the whole case from Pololu, cut and engraved (I colored it by hand).
What an amazing time we live in, when something like this is even possible.

OUT OF STOCK RESISTORS

Post by johnnyapolis » Sun Jun 11, 2017 1:59 pm

So I put in my part order at Mouser but there are two film resistors that they say are out of stock until JANUARY of 2018! I checked Digikey as well and they're saying the same thing. Does anyone know where I might find the following parts:

667-ERJ-3EKF2200V Panasonic 220ohm film resistors
667-ERJ-3EKF1001V Panasonic 1kohm film resistors

Or does anyone have a few I could buy from you to complete my project? Thanks!

You should be able to use any brand resistor that is the same package, if this case 0603. Sometimes even 0805 parts fit if you have some on hand.

The first one you linked would work, but the second one is a different case size.

Thank you! It appears I've got a bit to learn--I haven't soldered this type of resistor before. I ordered twice as many as I need for a little extra practice before attacking the actual project!

Hello everyone!

Is it normal that the prizma change the CV even when trigger is off ?
He will still play the pitch set for the step via the CV editor function.
Is that a normal behaviour ?

What I would like is that it doesn't send any new CV if the trigger step is off.
