I'm not fussed about a speaker (or room on the back for one) either. However, I'd like to be able to put the JasperIn interface inside.

I too don't bother too much about a speaker as well. If there's no space, that's OK with me and I'll go without a speaker, and if there is I'll probably put one in. So what.

All I really need is the space to put the Elby Link-to-MIDI converter in :).
... why buy it for $100 when you can build it yourself for $150?

Hi, very interested in this case kit! Won't be adding a speaker to my Jasper however. Please put me down if not too late! :)

Just to let everyone know, CNC machine has arrived and am setting and calibrating the beast. I have a few days off next week to get production running and hope to get the prototyping sussed this weekend.

The non-speaker version might be a week or two down the line as there's quite a bit of re-drawing to do. It'll chop about 30/40mm off the back. There should still be room for midi.

Once you build the kit, Jasper drops into it from the top (6mm hex spacers are supplied for the bottom of Jasper) and is secured via 6 holes on the base. 2 screws secure the keyboard from the top.

More details + construction video will follow.

That's looking fantastic! Thanks for accommodating a non-speaker option too!

NICE! I'll definitely go with the speaker-less version if the MIDI/CV board will fit.

How about the battery pack? I could probably live without the speaker (I'd prefer with) but batteries are not negotiable..

Hi Altitude, the kit comes with an 8 AA cell battery holder that will be easily accessed underneath. I'll upload a render of it tomorrow.

I think I've got the best possible solution for the batteries. Battery holder/container will be in all versions of the case.

Come you creatives. Get the speaker fitted, record that and the DI sound. This will give you a good mix of sounds. Try overdriving the speaker. Try different speakers. Fit more speakers. It was good enough for the original design so it's good enough for us today. Or do we know more than the EDP team? Where are your creative minds? Keep your options open. #mic drop

I would be interested in a non-speaker version but I'm not sure the weight/postage costs to Australia would make it viable. Crustybooga could you check?

One thing that could be worth investigating is using the LM386 chip (powers the speaker) for a distortion circuit. I know there are a few guitar pedals that use that chip with germanium diodes etc... probably best discussed in the build thread though.

My thought exactly.

I'll take a speaker-less case as well.

Hi Altitude, here's a render of the base/battery. The 8 AA cell battery pack is supplied in the kit ready to pop into the hole.

Update 6 - 11 November

Finally - all systems go this weekend. The CNC's been setup and is ready for production. I have just to make cutting paths on the drawings, all a load more work than I ever thought! But unless there's some problems this weekend, production begins this weekend.

Sorry it's taken so long, there's been plenty of :bang: on the way and suspect there will still be more :bang: and  to come, but the result should be :yay: :guinness: :nana:

Cheers
Sonny
