Sequencer looks dope!!

One technical question,

I have everything solderd nicely to the link 2 holes.
But where does the strip get its 5V and ground from. I tried looking at the pics in this build thread, but I can't really make out where it gets it from.

Thanks in advanced.

When operating I will give you feedback on the beta firmware for sure :) :bananaguitar:

the pins on link 2 are +5V GND G F E D C B A T, it is a 1:1 match for the header on the JasperIN.

Somethings up , youre not the first to report this. What midi controller are you using?
I'm also struggling with the last beta. Good news is the timing is much improved over the original firmware, but it doesn't play well with my Cirklon. One note is played, then it stops responding :despair:, looks like the unit is frozen, even the keyboard doesn't respond reliable anymore. A reboot solves it.

Strange thing is when sequenced via my daw (Reaper and midi via an UFX) al looks good, only thing I noticed that it doesn't like very rapid notes.

Hopefully there is some news on the beta soon.

Thanks.

The midi dump from the Cyrklon that you sent me is no different from other midi sequences that I tested. I have no clue why it does not work and it will require more research to figure what is wrong. I will come back to try to solve this but at the moment there are other issues that I need to fix.

As for the very quick notes, this is a limitation of the Wasp, maximum trigger speed is 25 time per second as stated in the spider sequencer user manual.

If anyone has a unit with the beta installed and midi does not work, please PM me and help me figure why this is happening. So far, people that have reported this issue have not had time to help on this issue.

Thanks AFX for your reply.

If you need anything from me for the research please let me know. I will contact Colin from Sequentix to see if he can help here.

HI,

Well I got it working. The Beta also froze up for me, it got stuck on one note.

When I put the old firmware all is good.
I Used Logic as daw to midi

The only problem what I find is my cv and gate in.

When I plug the cv an d gate In, I see the gate blink, and I can measure voltage on the cv jack.

Any idea where to look?

I’ve got the same issue.

Me too. Midi works, but no cv/gate. The gate light comes on when it receives a trigger but no sound generated.

Could you guys try to set the midi channel again and make sure the CV gate is in the correct range.
The midi note you send to set the midi channel also changes the CV range that it responds.

Code: Select all

Midi Note # | Octave | Range
 0 to 11 | -2 | 0.083v-3v
12 to 23 | -1 | 1.083v-4v
24 to 35 | 0 | 2.083v-5v
   >35 | Any | 3.083v-6v
The JasperIn needs a reboot after setting the channel.

Hi all! A strange issue's arised with MIDI.

The beta firmware didn't work, so I've gone back to the old one. The octaves are alright, but it "skips" certain notes, giving me an incomplete scale. The notes also sometimes hold for eternity before not responding to any more MIDI data after a few notes. (The hold switch is off)

The JasperIN was working fine a year or so ago, but this whole time I haven't yet put the Jasper in a proper sealed box yet, so it's a little exposed.
Any ideas?

EDIT: I believe it was a short in the LINK jumper wires, a bit of wiggling (and soldering) sorted it out.

Any news on a final firmware version, the old one with the tightness of the beta one would be perfect :hihi:

I had to go back to the old firmware because the beta one acted weird.
It worked for a while and was tighter then the first one but I also got weird things (sometimes it triggered note's that weren't in my sequence even if I stopped my sequencer, I kept hearing the note's) only solution was to turn the jasper back off and on again.

Gone back to the old one and everything is working as it should again but timing is terrible.

Now when I put the new firmware back on midi isn't even working anymore only cv/gate...

You have to set the root key with the midi again

Hmm editing the main post so the beta version is now the current version is a bit easy I guess :despair:

If you see my message and previous messages there are still other problems with it...

Sorry, some dbl post weirdness

0.09a has the issue? I took down the 0.2 beta version, there is no reason for that to be up

Did to see my original post before that mess about setting the CV range after the firmware rollback?

Ow okay sorry no the 0,09a is the old version where everything is working but timing (jitter) is terrible
The problems I describe is with the beta version but the beta has much better timing.

So we need a firmware that works like 0.09a but with timing like the beta version :hmm:

Hey there, I'm building my Jasperin finally, and the little solder pad at the top of U2 came off the PCB. I could jump it, but since there's no schematic, and I can't see any traces to follow, I'm not sure where to jump it to. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

To be clear, it's the pad on the side where there's only one solder point, not the side with 2.
