Laser cut plywood! It was supposed to be a prototype but it may end up being the official face plate for a while. I may try staining it. I would like to try acrylic or steel if I have time.
Stain on that would look sik! Couple of polyurethane spray coats to seal then wait a month to sand it smooth.

IT'S ALIIIVVE. I breathed a big sigh of relief after the moment of truth. Are there any tutorials on how to methodically test each part of the synth? Also has anyone put any thought into making this battery powered? Perhaps with a few LiPos in series or some 9V batteries?

Whoa, this is definitely one of the coolest looking Lyra builds I’ve seen!

I ordered all pots and switches from Banzai.

Man, of course I had to find your comment right after I received all of my parts already.. That was exactly the shop I was looking for and couldn't find anywhere. Maybe I'll have to give my Lyra an optical upgrade already soon

Does anyone know where to get the rare ICs from? I bought the DIY boards from someone but he didn’t send those. He’s looking for them (so hopefully won’t need the info). Soma’s site says they’re HEF4093 NXP (SOIC-14) but that not all ones from all manufacturers work the same...

They're not really all that rare. NXP (Nexperia) IC are available from Mouser, as well as many local parts suppliers. Mouser lists 3 versions, 2 in stock. They're only 40 cents...

Ah, great. Thanks for the reply. Will probably get the parts and case from there anyway so if he can’t find them it’s no big deal

Hi experienced LYRA-8 builders,

I can't find any orientation mark on the 4093NXP chips:

Can anybody tell me if I was lucky and chose the correct orientation?

Thanks a lot!

Looks backwards. The *beveled edge* indicates the side with pin 1.

Sorry, mate
