Piggyback it from Pin 2 to Pin 7 of the LS318 et voilà...
Then you could even socket the LS318 I guess....
Doesn't look as neat as having the smd Tempco below the chip but it should work.
Wanna buy my 16 LS318s mate?
Wanna buy my 20 LS318s mate?
Wanna buy my 36 LS318s mate?
Argh

Scott, any chance we can have a preliminary BOM in the short term please?

I have a 15% Mouser discount I want to make the most of so want to lump this project in too. Doesn't matter if it's not 100% perfect! :hihi:

Has anyone heard anything since April 16th?

I thought boards were shipping, but I haven't received tracking yet. I emailed Scott back 12 days ago, but so far neither of my emails have received an reply.

I am waiting for the January pre-order of the 4 voice kit, and also have an order in for the newer 8 voice kit.

Is there a better place where I can follow along with the status of these orders?

Nope. Got the April 16 message too, but haven't heard anything since.
Like you I'm waiting for both the 4-voice and the new 8-voice kit.
I don't know that there is a better place to hang out and wait for it.

Hi all, I have a few questions.

My voice boards have rev 'B' on the silkscreen, are these considered rev 2?

The 1k 3300ppm 0805 thermal resistors are obsolete. I found 2700ppm, 3600ppm, and 4110ppm alternatives. Should I go with the 3600ppm since the temp coefficient is closer?

Lastly, should we be using the 4-voice carrier board BOM for sourcing parts for the 8-voice backplane?
This means nothing to me... Oh, Vienna!

The 4 voice kit arrived today!

Bonus: It's the newer AS/CEM3310 Edition board! Wasn't expecting that, so it makes the wait completely worth it. Thank you!

Perfect timing for me, as I am wrapping up a DDRM build.

From memory my 4-voice boards say revB which I think is Rev 2.0. I'm sure scott will clarify though

Thanks mOBiTh.

As far as the 1k 3300ppm TCR's, the 1.2k versions were still in stock and ordered them. I may have to rework the resistors at the base of the LS318's to get the proper scaling response.

No luck for me yet, did you get a BOM for the new version?
Does it still use the LS318?

Thanks!

No BOM yet, but it looks like they've been replaced with the option of using LM3046MX or FMB3904.

For rev 2.4 boards, I see two VTL5C3 on silkscreen per each voice card,.

As there is no BOM yet, can folks confirm those parts needed?

Have two 8 voice incoming, but I'm still not sure what to make of it.
This is my current thinking - basically an ob-x based xpander, but with elements of the 2/4/8-voice in that you can edit one or more voice individually.

So much fun...

Seems mine are finally shipped to arrive on Monday.
Anyone up for group-buying the as3310?

Electric Druid have them in stock for 3 uk pounds each when you get 100.
Seems we should be able to reach that easily.
Any interest?

At the risk of sounding impatient, has anybody heard from Scott lately? I too have a pending order and no response to emails regarding status.

I had a brief convo with him on facebook a month or so ago, plus the recent circular email. I suspect he's snowed under with work...

Hey folks,

The last eight weeks have been crazy 12-hour workdays (including some weekends) but I now have 5 days off and all remaining boards will be shipped in that time. Sorry for the delays, the bonus is new BoMs will also be ready.

I’ve been looking over the voice cards and there are several chips I think could be beneficial to order in bulk. Im out on vacation for the next two weeks with limited internet, but I’m in if some people wants to get together when we get the bom, and perhaps save a bit.

Yeh I'm up for group buys uk/eu side if it makes sense.

I wonder how many people are building an 8-voice?

That kickstarter seems under-funded for assembled boards.

Yeh it's mysterious. I guess they're largely self funding and this is an interest check?

I bought one of the "4 to 8" upgrade kits, it arrived today.

It looks like these 2.4 boards include the filter expansion. Some of the molex pins are unused in the original OBX; on the 2.4 boards they are marked with NFCV (notch frequency?), FMODE1, FMODE2 (filter mode?), and EGVCO2 (pitch EG??). I can also see some mysterious parts in the filter section, including vactrols and LEDs. And a new DG508A multiplexer -- probably this is how filter mode switching is implemented.

All very cool but of no use in a mixed system where half of the voice boards don't have the filter expansion. :)

To be honest I have some buyer's remorse. I think building an owning an 8 voice would be awesome, but my 4 voice is working well now. Why take apart a good thing...

Anyway, water under the bridge. I have my new PCB's. At least I enjoy the puzzle. :)
