- slider caps- we approved the last of the prototypes a couple of weeks ago-- to tighten the fit and confirm color et al- they are being made now
Dear Synthcube, do you mind awfully if you could post up some pictures of said caps if you are able to please? That is, if they differ from those in the pictures a couple of pages back. Thanks in advance old chap, search64

In the build guide (page 5) it calls for 6 matched pairs of 2N3906 – RMx2, VCAx2, 4012x1, 4072x1. On the 4012, is it safe to assume it's the two that are facing that should be matched? Also, should those be thermally coupled?
Thanks,
Nick

A TTSH recently came in for service here and the builder included a bag of 2N5459s that looked legit - all fake. Its becoming a thing with 2N5459.
What were they? Bad spec? Bipolars? Empty pkg?
They looked like legit Fairchilds, but tested as NPN BJTs, and did not work in-circuit. I'm not aware where my customer obtained them, but he told me they were suspect when he dropped them off.
I replaced the “Fairchilds” in the bad osc w/ Motorola off Amazon. Calibrated in 30 sec, tracks great. Thanks for the suggestion.

When can we expect to get our MIDImplant kits? I received my TTSH in December with a note saying that the MIDImplant would come later.

Just a heads up to check the contents of your slider bags carefully if your Synthcube kit arrived around the end of February. In my kit, the bag that should have contained 100k linear sliders (line #147) turned out to be 1M audio taper sliders.

Nick, this is covered in the current build guide, page 4: "Footprints showing transistors face-to-face indicate locations for thermally coupled transistor pairs. When such transistors are of the same type, matching them is highly recommended. "

Thanks Fuzzbass and yes, I've read your build doc cover to cover, two or three times. Great read. I love the way it ends. ;)
The pair on the 4012 have a little gap in between them on the board, which is different than the others, but I went ahead and matched/coupled them.
Thanks again.

What are you using to couple them?

I used the white compound that came with the Synthcube kit and a short piece of heat shrink tubing.

Here is my front panel design for my shapers case. I added a hole for a power led using mouser P/N 593-4000C and a third toggle switch for AC / DC

If anyone wants to try adding TTSH style graphics to this, then be my guest
