Making a few of these...

I really like the mini illuminated buttons, much cuter than the standard ones and feel a lot firmer, not wobbly...

Finished my 5U version of the DivKid Mutes today.

divkid-mutes-5U.jpg

It works great on +/-15V but there is some signal bleed when the switch if in the off position. Probably has to do with the vactrols. Anybody know if the schematics are available?

Also finished my 5U version of the Music Thing Modular Microphonie 2 weeks ago...

Music-Thing-Modular-Microphonie-5U.jpg

This module works great on +/-15V without modifications.
Nice. What did you base your design on if you didn't have the divKid mutes schematic? I couldn't find it either.
I used the original PCB (bought it from Thonk). As there are only opamps and vactrols on the PCB I expected it to work without problems using +/-15V.
I think the signal bleed is caused by the vactrols. As they are now fed with 15V instead of 12V they probably don't close completely, but that's just guessing without a schematic.

However, I had a brief exchange with DivKid and he will provide me with the schematics so I can figure out what to modify.

Yes, Jim Matheson's done a great job with the layout in making a smaller (but not micro) Marbles. Here I was able to select full width knobs and still have room for fingers. I've modified his panel a little so as to get a consistent look and feel with the knobs.

Picked up a bit more than a handful of modules from Erica since they're discontinuing their current DIY line. Really nice THT modules. Slightly crammed here and there but all in all very nice to build :) Only a couple left to finish, but stuck on the second VCO bur to a short somewhere on the control PCB :hmm:

So. Everything on the pic was not built in 2020, but anyway: the whole boat was.

I didn't build these with a specific "layout" in mind, so these are just random modules I bought as kits, to get me started.
But it works fine as a drone machine!
Now that I have a PSU and a workflow, it is time to think about how I'd like to use a Serge synth.

I was thinking about three boats like this, one R*S format because they have a nice selection of modules, and two ful DIY boats.
That should be enough.

Anyway, it looks like a milestone: my wiring and soldering has much, much improved since the very first module I assembled.

CGS quad logic gate configured as AND gates. Changed output to 0-9v, used 3904 transistors, eliminated LEDs.

They are, IMO, quite "large" for those who want a full featured synth in a compact space, but ideal for performance(s).
And also, such a nice start for Serge DIY! No brackets, etc...

I think it's Slightly Nasty stuff that got me into 4U for good. I always found regular Serge (apart from R*S, of course) quite cryptic with sparse documentation. But now most shops sell Serge PCBs.

Finally getting back into DIY. Starting small, just a Thonk ATATAT and a few RYO Airtenuators to work on my soldering skills.

New case for my diy euro. Cut the ply with my cnc router, hoping to try some aluminium routing on it for panels. Here it is before I find out none of my hand cut panels will fit
Dropped it on its back while the final coat was still tacky, lifted a load of dry paint off the table, got lots of nice wrinkly paint now. Ah well, that's why the back faces the wall.

Very pleased to see something but "wood" colour for racks. I stick by my main of synthesisers being of the future, so make them look like it.

Having said that wood can be cool.

Agreed, should brighten the place up a bit. Also, varnish requires a lot more effort in the joinery.

Case almost finished:

As soon as the power supply arrives the frame of the case will get finished in fluorescent acrylic.

Finished my first round of diy modules this weekend, the start of the drum kit:

Awesome stuff, all :sb: Love the case Mkeys  Been pondering whether to do a plexi case for the TTSH or not.

How’s the Zlob VCA, Noodle Twister? That’s a lot of VCA’s on a very small space :tu:

SMD build. Left is modulating vca with an Oakley euro DVCO and euro COTA.
Right is just a vanilla Intellijel DIxieII pulse wave.
Envelope is in gated loop mod.
