Think I found a small TransistorTreasure?

Post by autodafe » Sat Mar 21, 2020 2:16 pm

I am using this Corona-Lockdown to tidy up my garage...
Today I found, at the bottom of a box of components, a couple of apparently NOS Fairchild UA726HC
I didn't even remember buying them or who/whare I got them from
they seem to be pretty high in price these days...
I think they were used on MiniMoogs and Roland SH Series, am I right?
Can you help me identiify what synths used them and how to properly date the transistor, given their markings?

I've encountered this part before but it's been awhile. A search brought up this thread: http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-64724.html which suggests that these are a repro part, but a very good repro part.
FS/T: Getting out of Euro!
I wrote a song every day in January, April, & July of 2019, all of them are on YouTube, but here are the best ones from January, I think.
Some bands I've been in, High Five Spirit & The Mineral Kingdom.
Maths is hard, let's go shopping.

They were discontinued before the year 2000, so it's obviously the 12th week of 1900.

According to an old Fairchild Semi IC manual I have sitting around (1995), the first digit of the 4 digits doesn't refer to manufacture date. It says on a 4 digit marking, the first digit is a "line" digit, which refers to the plant and/or specific machine...and only the last 3 digits refer to year and week.

Having said that, an older manual (1983) PDF I found online states that all 4 digits are dates.

But they're still unobtanium. Maybe you can trade them for toilet paper?
