Front panel nuts for input jacks

Post by nobody » Mon Mar 23, 2020 6:47 pm

Ive just spent a good 3 hours trying to find nuts for my Thonkiconn jacks. The only place I can find them is Thonkiconn (duh), and well they are in Europe and there is this virus thing every where. Does anyone know any other good sources? They are M6x0.5mm front panel nuts. They seem like they should be easy to find, but apparently not. Tried mcmaster, digikey, amazon, 20 pages deep into various google searches and nada :bang:

Did you try Synthcube?

edit: just looked. They don't appear to sell round orhex jack nuts separately. I would call or write and ask them direct.

But they are carrying Befaco Banananuts, which will fit your jacks. /edit

I highly doubt that you really want nuts that are .5mm thick. How about 3.2mm? That's still a bit thick, about the same as bananuts, but if you hunt around they might have thinner ones.

Sorry, McMaster Carr is stupid with their web page names, so I can't provide a link that'll get you in the ballpark of this page. But they've got a quite a few things in this realm that'll work.

sduck, I think you may have misunderstood.
your page shows nuts with 6x1mm threads. The metric 'equivalent' of Natl. COARSE.
3.5mm Jack nut threads are 6x 0.5mm, the 'equivalent' of Natl. Fine.

I have one from a sub miniature switch thats the same size. They are 1.56mm thick. They come with switches any time you buy them, I would think it would be easy to get them in bulk.

In other news thonk just shut down for like a month. Farts.

Yes, those aren't the ones you want then. Thanks for pointing that out. While they do have fine threaded versions of these, they're still the 3.2mm thick ones. It's possible they actually do have the thin version, but I didn't poke around enough. Edit: Just spent a few more minutes poking around on MC - still couldn't find anything smaller than 3.2mm thick.

They look better in the flesh than the picture on their site. Unfortunately a bit overpriced.

Oh snap. Good ol Jameco

Yeah, I need qty 350 so it would cost me $90 + shipping. Farts.

Call or write them and ask for volume discount. I'd bet they'd do something for you. Good supplier.

Whaddyou talkin' about, homes? All my distillery clients waste my time because they cannot think in metric. Part of the problem is that TTB reporting is still in proof gallons and wine gallons. AND I wish to fuck they'd stop using stupid volumetric measurements, and just go to mass measurements, already!

Tayda has the whole jack for 12 cents. That's only $42 plus shipping. And then you have 350 jacks without nuts again.
