About the enclosure... We are prototyping a professionally manufactured custom metal enclosure for the Progue. The guestimate is that these will be available in 2-3 months. We might also provide various wooden sides for it since any synth always sounds warmer with them ;)

The original idea to use the Hammond 1441 enclosure was only to keep the DIY aspect alive and maybe give some ideas for someone thinking about building their own low-volume projects. But if you decide to go this route, the outcome is surprisingly good. It takes a bit of work though.

Another option is to use the panel dimension provided on jsisynth.com for designing an aluminum panel (CNC machined) and build it into a custom hardwood box. If the extra weight (compared to a custom metal enclosure) is not an issue, the outcome can be beautiful.

Just throwing ideas, it's DIY so you decide!

That's what I was hoping to hear! I get worked up about a project and its immediately wallet-be-damned get it done mode but that should cool my jets

We got the first prototype of the metal enclosure from the manufacturer. Only small tweaks needed and this ready for production. Got color suggestions? ;)

Looking good! Call me crazy but I think gloss white with black silkscreen would be fucking awesome, especially with some nice wood ends.

If you're going this route, might as well do silver/natural with blue and orange. Like the Source!

The Moog Sirin has a Source-like color scheme and nice functional groupings by color:

I’d say keep the case silver with a white front panel overlay and black text. Simple, minimal.

Thanks for all the suggestions! We'll look into the costs and try to figure out a way to provide some customization options. I can promise you black with white text, others to be announced 😀

PS. The SMDs pre-soldered -versions arrive next week.

The Progue PCB+Panel sets are now available via synthCube:

progue

We have SMT-assembled PCB sets on their way from JSI, and expect kits (full kit version and 'no-SMT' kit version) within a few weeks.

Just to be clear, this is just a front panel, not the metal case being discussed here, right? Will you be getting some of the cases when they are ready?

Correct-- at the moment, we are offering the panel + pcb sets, and our synthCube kits will have the generic Hammond case specified. As JSI moves ahead with plans for a custom case, we'll offer those as custom cases as well, and replace the Hammond cases with the JSI cases.

Is the panel metal or PCs material?

The panel is PCB material. This can be used with the Hammond enclosure and of course while building and testing. The custom metal enclosure that we are offering in the near future does not use it.
