Me too, as an early builder... cool project.

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth
Looks amazing, nice, neat design. I'll be following this and would be down for soldering the SMD parts meself.
Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth
I'd love to build one - I prefer SMD to through hole, so this is great.
Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth
Hi all. Just an quick update on this. The prototype had just a couple of easily fixed issues and I decided that extra testing is not needed. Also, due to Covid situation shipping times are near ridiculous, so I rather build&test them myself more efficiently. Sorry guys.
The next step towards the "release version" is to add built-in MIDI and DCDC converter for PSU (proto has header for midi-implant and 7815/7915's).
I have done a few demos, which I will post soon.

Nice! Thanks!

Walkthrough of the prototype is in youtube:
Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth
Any chance of sync via contour as that’s a killer feature?
Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth
Filter envelope can modulate osc2 pitch, if that's what you mean? That's demonstrated on the video around 4:40

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth
Superb video!
Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth
Is the switch for octave backwards? Meaning the legend is correct, but the lowest pitch should be the switch moved to the left?

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth
Great video Janne!
I need to get you to start doing the production on my stuff lol! Top notch!

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth
Yes, hence the name "prototype". There's also a couple of wrong taper pots on this proto just because I got frustrated with the shipping delays :-) All fixed of course for the release version.
Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth
Progue REV2.0 is on the drawing table. Component count so far: 932
I'm hoping to finish this in a week or so, and get it tested in a month. If all goes well this should be available for purchase by the end of the year. The BOM is 90% ready, but I don't have an estimate of the costs yet. More videos to come later!

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - AUDIO DEMO
Are you selling it as a bare pcb or with some components on it already? Anything weird/rare on it?

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - AUDIO DEMO
Probably both, but at least bare PCBs. Nothing rare really, but some components needs to be purchased from other than mouser. It's mostly SMD, so it's going to be a medium level SMD task, or if I'll also get a SMD pre-soldered version it's a really easy through-hole project. I do need to make an "interest check" when once first REV2.0 proto is working if I'm going to order a pre-soldered run.

Bump- just wondering how this is going?

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - AUDIO DEMO
Wow, nice job JanneI! Just seeing this, I'm in for a bare PCB, but if you end up doing the SMD pre-soldered version, I'll go with that.
Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - AUDIO DEMO
Would be interesting to incorporate the polyohony function of MG-1

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - AUDIO DEMO
Compared to REV1, the REV2 has:
- DCDC converter based PSU with separate regulated rails for MCU & DAC
- Built-in midi
- Dip switches for: midi ch, priority mode, re-trig/legato, ModWheel/AT
- Panel Switch for ModWheel/AT (LFO amount) routing to VCO, VCF, Both
- Small adjustments on the analog side
- A separate output board for the back panel connectors
- ..and maybe a bonus or two!

As you can probably see from the picture, there's a couple of really small SMD components (ie. DAC), so PCB only option is not suitable for beginners. Let's see if I'll do a pre-soldered SMD version for sale, because then this project will be pretty easy DIY project!

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - AUDIO DEMO
looks great! How small are the SMD DACs? 0805? 0402?

See U28 in the pic. Between the 2nd and 3rd pot in the upper row. Compare it with the others bigger nearby.
DAC is an IC. The sizes you listed are for discrete parts like caps and resistors.
edit: technically the 3rd and 4th pot as there's one far left in that row
