LCR Tweezer-style meters for component matching?

Post by B0bcat » Sun Sep 13, 2020 3:21 pm

I’m looking into options to match capacitors to better than 1% (obviously I also want absolute reads for single components to be as accurate as possible). I’ve come across devices like the LCR Research Pro-1 which claim to be accurate to 0.2% even for small capacitance values, and all that for less than $299 new on Amazon. This sounds too good to be true, and the near-perfect reviews seem suspicious too, given that another one of the company’s devices has rather mixed reviews, the negative ones of which are filtered out, and it’s a “sponsored” product. Long story short - does anybody have experience with these?

I have a pair, they're legit. I don't use them often though so can't give you a detailed review. There are probably cheaper LCR meters with good accuracy; The main selling point here is the form factor. Really nice for testing smt components, even ones that are already soldered.

Thank you! Astonishing what they can squeeze into that small footprint then!
