Holiday week proto: The sequel to B1; B2 Kick Bass module
I've been wanting to do another kick and bass module for a while and tweak some things from B1, and I finally got around to it. This one is a little bigger than it's little brother, but packs a lot of features, namely being able to do everything B1 could do but also:
+2 way wave mixer with potential 3 octaves of sound: Sub sine mixable with a mix of Sine & Square/Saw/2x Frequency Saw
+All new gate circuit which enables click-free, consistant wave starts with hits, even if overlapping, all the way down to the lowest VCA attack envelope which is now only 125uS! Even the sub-octave circuit gets zero'd.
+3 filter types: Lowpass/Bandpass/Notch, which exteral CV input added for cutoff, and a more rowdy (if you want it to be!) resonance section.
+All OTAs are LM13700 (4 of em! yee haw!) and no rare parts.
+New VCO with stable ptich references.
+All waves are switched "off the panel" with 4052 switches.
+New panel layout, shows more obviously what the 3 envelope modes are doing.
Some sound samples (turn up on some big speakers for that sub octave. She's a monster!!"
Kicks: https://soundcloud.com/saywaht/b2-sound ... ound-demos
Basses: https://soundcloud.com/saywaht/b2-sound ... ound-demos
Additional filter modes/modulation: https://soundcloud.com/saywaht/b2-sound ... ound-demos
This will be a typical DIY-friendly thru-hole build as with most of my other stuff.

Hehe, oh there was plenty of eating too! My company did a full week (unpaid...) Shutdown due to covid, plus the wife is knees deep in studying for CS degree, so plenty of time to build and tweek! Looks like they are gonna do the same for Christmas week too so more modules it shall be!
Re: Holiday week proto: The sequel to B1; B2 Kick Bass module
I'd love to build(or test) that!

Nice work, devinw 1
Once it -finally- finished loading abd showed up on the screen, I re-saved it as 1024x. Went from 3.4megs to 178K. I'm not really seeing any less detail.
Here it is, returned to the upright position after its round trip flight throught the interwebz

Treat utility modules as stars instead of backup singers.
Treat power supplies like Rockstars instead of roadies!
Chase magic sound, not magic parts.

Oh FFS... 3 megs! I gotta watch these files straight off the Pixel 3! Yeah, no need for anything that big here.
Interestingly, on the original hi res pic, the preview in muffs shows it sideways, but when you click it, it flips right side up.!

Whipped out a demo video tonight. I'm slowly getting the hang of doing these, but still suck at it. lolz.

Pretty soon I think. I'm requoting some of my production panels right now and this is in the mix.!
Re: Holiday week proto: The sequel to B1; B2 Kick Bass module
This sounds great! One of the best sounding kick drums I think I've heard from an analog module. Can't wait for the pcbs to be available!

Thanks h0wser! I'm working on the build documentation right now, probably 75% done. Just have to knock out the final BOM and get panels in and we should be golden.

Cant wait to fire up the soldering iron!
