The 2021 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!
It's time for the new thread! Show us what you build!
Sorry, no first build of the year from me - I was all set to work and maybe finish something late last night, but my daughter came over and we watched cheesy new years stuff on tv instead.

Re: The 2021 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!
Let me start the 2021 thread with my just finisehd Erica Synth DIY system, it's been a long work in the next month or so, finished during the festive holidays ;-) (some details still missing, but 99% complete and working good ;-) )

Re: The 2021 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!
TR909 Low Tom clone with mods: 100k poti to diminish the amount of noise in the attack and a CV input for tune.
The tracking response of the oscillators is about 1.2V/Oct, thus the original tuning voltage (100k) plus the CV input
(33k + 100k trimmer) are joined in a voltage adder (100k in the negative feedback loop) and then are reversed again.
BTW, the cardboard front plate is just temporary and too wobbly.

Knocked out the first little project in my new apartment workbench -
I had been wanting a few dedicated EGs in euro, and these befaco ones fill the bill nicely. I have another one to finish, may get another two later. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: The 2021 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!
Finally managed to find the motivation to finish this one: a CLee VC timer!
Was a bit annoyed by the amount of wiring it needs, so I waited over 9 months.
But in the end it works well and looks great. Gosh, I hate wiring so much.

I finished off the Lyra-8 with the flounderguts panel and expansions.
It was a fun challenge to wire it up in such a way that key components were accessible for service, and the main board could still be removed.

Love seeing this stuff!
This module is fun, the Barton Bytewsie Operator. There's an optional expander PCB but I decided to make my own on stripboard since it's just ten buffers. I hand painted the panel too!

Nice job. Love the capacitor parade on the rotary switches.Stoneyards wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 2:03 pmI finished off the Lyra-8 with the flounderguts panel and expansions.

So awesome to see a complete build! I love how you did color-per-voice, instead of color-per-function (which is what I did.) I'm eager to hear what changes you think can be made, once you have some time with it!Stoneyards wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 2:03 pmI finished off the Lyra-8 with the flounderguts panel and expansions.

Hey hey, first post here
I started my DIY modular about half a year ago, here's where I'm at now.
It has the basics: a PSU, a couple of VCOs, a mixer, some passive multiples, an LFO, a VCF, a couple of VCAs and AR modules.

Cool, the first LEGO Synth I've seen yet

But LEGO is nice, here my inductor winding machine with counter for my Moog (tm) 907 and 914 clones:

The idea of realizing the counter by using a pocket calculator is awesome!analogmonster wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 2:15 amBut LEGO is nice, here my inductor winding machine with counter for my Moog (tm) 907 and 914 clones:

Regarding the number of coils need for those Moog clones I would have expected a more sophisticated machine.
(Did the 914 filter bank as well, thanks to analogmonster!)
For my winding machine I dug out some Fischertechnik parts from the
early eighties. That was before the more fancy parts from LEGO were introduced.
