Something super simple to start the year while I wait for the USPS to get unclogged and my Oshpark PCBs to arrive. It's based on LMNC's buffered multiple thingy here https://www.lookmumnocomputer.com/proje ... d-multiple . I sort of squished it down and multiplied it to get 6x 1-to-3 mults in 8hp

This was also the first time for me submitting anything to be fabricated by another PCB factory other than Oshpark, so there was some learning curve around figuring out how to export a BOM, centroids, gerbers etc etc. Overall turned out pretty nicely, I think, and while I miss Oshpark-purple, the matte black solder mask is pretty nice. JLCPCB did the PCBs and SMD assembly.

As a friend pointed out, yes, there's a few places where some of the jack sockets could use a little more solder... until it doesn't work I think I'm going to leave it...

Kicked off the new year by finishing a pair of Antumbra Grid’s. Straightforward builds, but it took a bit to figure out flashing the code and getting the fuses and lock bits set.

Trying to make use of all my low-gain Soviet MP-26A germaniums, this is a quick stripboard proto of an amp-style germanium drive/preamp pedal. It uses two directly cascaded differential pairs with fixed emitter currents (I feel like diff. pair distortions are really underrated in the pedal world) and differential feedback for a slightly quirky tone control that only affects the distortion products and not the dry signal. There's also a "Sag" knob that current-limits the positive rail of everything between the input and output buffers for that spongy fuzzy thing.

It's nice to play - you can go smoothly from clean to heavy distortion just by picking harder or softer. On synths it's also cool, but it does push the mids quite a bit. Still needs a few tweaks here and there though.

Thanks, it's actually just printer paper glued on with spray adhesive - I had to lay out the stripboard layout in KiCAD because it was such a small space to squeeze it all into! That second photo was before I wired it all up though, so it does look a bit messier now.

I'll do some audio samples once I've fixed a few minor issues that are bothering me. Overall it's a very amp-like sound where it's hard to tell exactly when it starts distorting, and a fairly dark distortion sound overall because of the terrible bandwidth when you're pushing such low-gain transistors so hard.

i made an ms20 filter, first time trying panel design in EAGLE and once again i am blown away by how magic cheap + quick PCB fabbing is.

the filter itself seems to work fine, it's the rene schmitz version of the circuit with a few value tweaks.

Here is my first complete module: Dual CGS VCF.

The front panel is only prototype as I'm waiting to some aluminium panels to arrive!
