You could leave the GATE OUTs and the LEDs off the module, but it won't do anything without the pots. So it could get a little smaller, but it will always be kind of large.

Just wondering, are the gate outs fixed or do they vary in length according to the input voltage?

The GATE is high as long as that pot is active. Divide a 0-5v voltage range by 8 (about 0.63v). As long as the CV IN is in any particular band of 5/8 then that GATE is high and that pot is controlling the gain of the VCA.

This sounds (and looks) great. I'd be interested in pcbs also

This looks like a great design!
As I'm too stupid and lazy to build anything I will lie in wait, watching "Archer reruns" on TV whilst someone else builds them and ships them to my house, as is the custom of my people.

Great work, CLee - beautiful sounds and waves!

I was hoping to get some more samples up this weekend but it's not going to happen.

Still fine tuning the code. When feeding a saw wave in there is a very short glitch at the falling edge caused by the time between sampling the CV and when the gain is adjusted to the next POT. Because the code takes time to do it's math there may be no way to get rid of it completely, but I'm still seeing what I can do. I'll post pics of it so you all can see.

A prototype board is mostly laid out, I'ts going to be 3"X6" (should do sideways euro, yes :hihi: ).

Thanks.

Still slogging through this. There are some technical problems I'm still trying to get to work. Sorted some out, but I think I need to build a prototype to see what still isn't working and what is issues with testing on a breadboard.

waiting on some parts to try some fixes to the circuit. I made this demo of the FGS working as a sequencer controlling a VCO. Speed and Fractal are VC'd from a Serge Random Voltage Source and a Great Divide from andrewF.

Absolutely gorgeous. I'd be tempted to dedicate an oscilloscope to viewing these waveforms while playing.

I'm in for one

I was going to order my first prototype PCB for this when I feature creeped.

I've added a control that allows you to vary the amount of input signal that's passed through to the output. Basically it lets you output only the signal from the pots, and can create some interesting waveforms.

But now it needs to be voltage controlled...

I can get you video... PCBs are going to still be a while.

Here is a video testing the passthrough control. I still need to make it voltage controlled.
