My favorite is either a Vox AC15 or AC30. They just work for me.

Twin Reverbs are perfect for what I do. I loved my first one so much that I bought a second!

For a very long time I only used Traynor YBA1a amps. With 6CA7 tubes. They run very, very hard on the tubes, and can only do 8 ohms minimum. But when they are in the zone, wow. Nothing is more raw. Makes Fender sound prim and Boogie too clean.
Later I scooted over to a Boogie Bass 400 because I lived in Petaluma, where they are made. And got a great deal on a used one. The Bass 400 (non plus). Can also get a pretty great dimed tone. But then you are diming the knobs on a 225 watt amp. It gets loud.
All my Boogie gear was sold when I moved across country. My recording rig is an Epiphone Valve jr with some old RCA tubes I lucked into. Driving a Bell and Howell projection speaker. Jensen loaded. Works great on guitar and pretty good on bass too.

I have a Matchless HC-30 and a CH-40, and they're pretty much my faves ever, would have the roughest time picking one over the other. That said, I also super love the Fender blackface sound, and recently picked up a Headstrong Lil King Reverb. Princeton circuit with a 12". It's shockingly loud without breaking up if you keep the volume at 5 or below, and does the blackface clean perfectly. Kinda in love.

I used to have an Ampeg V4 and loved it! still my favorite amp, clean headroom was as amazing as it's overdriven sound. was way too much for my small apartment though, I sold it about a year ago for a solid state combo.

I would imagine so. Probably even too loud for some small venues. :woah:

This little Ampeg GVT15-112 is being delivered here today, I'm eager to check it out. I have a Fender Bassbreaker which doesn't stay clean easily, but is great for overdriven sounds. I'm thinking the Ampeg will be better for cleans and pedals. It's a Highlander situation, there can be only one...so they're going to duel it out for a week or so.

Yeah, that amp is terrific, but I'm an Ampeg stan 4 lyfe.
I run a stereo rig involving the heritage handwired 12" guitar combo and a 20 watt tube portaflex head with a 12" cab.

There are some very nice amps in this thread! I actually bought my first guitar amp a week ago and I am very happy. I have had a bass amp for a long time and it is a proper work horse. I thought it was simply to plug the guitar into it, so I did, recorded three songs but the tone was always a bit off.

So I started to look for guitar amps. I wanted one with tubes / valves but man was they loud! I found one Marshall in my local guitar shop, got that one but it didn't work - insanely loud - so I returned it. And then I found the Supro Blues King 12.

Wow what an amp! It sounds great! I looks good! It is kind of small and nice, AND it has a master volume and line out! Are u kidding me? This amp is great, I love it so much. I played late at night yesterday, just practicing using the line out straight into my interface. It is a very great amp and I got it on a discount:

Such a nice amp. My bass amp is next to it, and I love it, but there is something special about the new one :loves:

I'm a neophyte when it comes to amps, but I didn't want to start another thread asking for recommendations. I have a Fender Rumble 500 for my bass and I'm looking to buy a small practice amp for guitar (10" or 12" speaker). For basic practice, I can use the Rumble, but it has no character for guitar. I'm looking to buy an amp that is designed for guitar, sounds good, and could last for decades. My top budget is $500 and I already have three options:

- Fender Pro Junior IV
- EHX Dirt Road Special
- Vox AC10

The Fender and Vox are tube based, which is attractive to me for no reason at all. The EHX is solid state but I've liked the demos so far and $100 cheaper than the other two. I don't need or want any fancy DSP-based amp; I will use effect pedals when I need to.

Does anyone have experience with these models?

I have played around with a few amps in the past, but I am and have been stuck on my mb 400+ for a while now.
That's a heck of an amp for sure.

Ashdown ABM 500 Evo 2 for me.
