Just ordered NOS/NIB Mullard GZ34 rectifier & 12AX7 (for V1 position) in my DR clone/mod. Both older than me! Cost a packet but hoping they'll be worth it. Next up NOS/NIB Brimar 6V6s...

Now you have me missing my old Roland Cube40 Chorus. That modulation circuit was glorious.

My favorite amp/combo ever was the late 50s/early 60s Gibson Falcon a friend picked up for 5 dollars at a warehouse dumping sale. Such a sweet and noble sound, like flowing brass honey! The guitarist who was using it, in our awful teenage garage band, didn't appreciate it in the slightest; he was obsessed with getting a Marshall stack and actually ruined that irreplaceable vintage gem by trying to "upgrade" the speakers and tubes. Now that I'm getting an electric guitar again, I still have the memory of the sound of that amp as something to shoot for.

Right about now my favorite guitar amp is my blackface Fender Deluxe reissue with a Weber Neomag aluminum voice coil cover/cloth surround speaker. It's bright and punchy with a tight bottom end.

70 Silverface Fender Super Reverb. It has been "blackfaced"
a close second is my 1484
but I use my Carvin Quad-X/Tube 100 a lot because I do a stereo wet/dry/wet setup often with the Super, the 1484 or the Marshall as the dry amp.

my other amps for honorable mention listed from most used to least.

Carvin Quad-X 4 channel preamp with Carvin Tube 100 Power Amp

I've had a JC77 with the chorus but never knew the cube series had it - rad!

Also eyeing off a Milkman half pint atm - kind of the opposite end of the spectrum, but hell, it sounds incredible

Just brought home the Showman Reverb. I've had limited time with it, but I can tell already this will be my favorite amp for clean tones. I haven't had time to run pedals through it, but I can't wait. So far just played my Gretsch through it and it sounds fantastic. Rickenbacker is next. And I have a "partscaster" Jazzmaster getting set up right now. The tech who fixed the tremolo circuit said it looks to be unmodified, except for the power transformer being replaced at some point. Now that I have some photos of the inside I'm going to continue my quest to accurately date the amp. Given the drip edge I know it's somewhere between late 67 to some time in 69 IIRC. I have some schematics of the older amps that I can look over to compare, which I think will be more accurate than relying just on SN or tube charts. Regardless, for me this is strictly an academic exercise. I'm super happy with this amp, regardless of the circuit.

The clean channel on my vh100r is basically all I use for geetar amplification. You only need so many clean amps.

My Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier has been sitting unused for easily two years. Wit its cabinet in the basement with a mic or two on it. It's a great amp, but I never find myself bothering to use it. It's also total overkill, but I got it for a steal. Almost all my guitars are just a pedal into the interface, or a piece of metasonix gear into the interface. Occasionally I'll use some crappy old 90s effects box with distortion/cabinet emulation, but that's not exactly chasing an authentic amp tone.

Just picked up a Bassbreaker 15 myself today. I've been playing forever with crappy amps, mostly because I'm cheap, so this is my first splurge on a nice tube amp. First impression is that it sounds excellent.

I almost went with an AC10C1, which sounds great too, but the Fender seems a bit more versatile with the three gain structures. The Mid setting has a Vox-like tone to it I think.

The Orange and the Mesa sound the best way possible to me. My new mesa boogie sounds great. Right now I'm leaning more to the orange.

Very late to the game here, but am very impressed with the amps on display! Also happy to see so many people using the Cascade Fat Head, my favourite mic for electric guitar. :)

I don't have a single favourite amp, it depends on what I m trying to achieve, but I favour an American sound. For edge of breakup and crunch tones I use a Lil Dawg Champster or EAST Amplification Studio 2. For heavier sounds, a Bumbox Cielo (JMP clone) o MESA Dual Rec (Trem O Verb). I also use the Bogner Uberschall pedal for high gain stuff through the Bumbox.

I have three main cabinets: an open back 1x12 with a Weber Alnico, a Marshall 2x12 with Eminence Wizards (16 ohm cab), and a vintage HiWatt 4x12 with square back Fane Crescendos. I also have a Randall Iso Cab which I will load with whatever speaker I need, but its default is an Eminence Swamp Thang.

This was recorded two years ago using various guitars and a Sennheiser e609.

64 Deluxe Reverb, or very late 56 Deluxe with 57 Deluxe guts.... all original, came that way from the factory.

In the new amp category, Milkman Mini.

Orange AD30 head with Tacoma preamp in front. Recorded this little improv jam live (loop by running the riff thru a DL4's looper feature).

My favourite is my Ampmaker Se5A, which I built from a kit. Lovely sparkling cleans, responsive, growls nicely with the gain up, takes pedals like they're part of the circuit, a great amp. Second place is my Blackstar Fly3; a truly astounding sound from a tiny SS amp, when mic'd up and recorded you couldn't tell it's not something much bigger with valves, best present I've ever had from the missus.

Mine is a Peavey Delta Blues 115. It's not quite Fender or Marshall, but while it's own thing, can do a lot of sounds. Takes pedals really well too.

I've been lusting after a Princeton Reverb, possibly a Brownface circuit, for awhile. And a Marshall Class 5.
