Vocal Stutter Pedal?

Post by unexpectedbowtie » Sun Oct 20, 2019 8:19 pm

I'm looking to get a pedal to use live which will I can use to create a stutter/fast delay-repeat effect on vocals. Ideally it would have a momentary switch so that it is engaged when held down, and stops when released - akin to the MWFX Judder. I can't seem to find anything though. Does anybody have any suggestions?

When you say Stutter and Momentary Switch the first thing that comes to mind is the IdiotBox Flash Stutter, but that's a vactrol tremolo, not a delay effect. Unless that is what you're looking for.

Yeah, after a delay that will let me do a kind of 'hold' stutter effect as opposed to a tremolo - and ideally a vocal specific one, to avoid impedance issues.

Thanks though!

The old Boss digital delay pedals, maybe?

One of the boss DD pedals (DD3? DD6?) can be set to stutter by doing a really fast loop with your foot. I think there’s a video of nick Reinhart explaining it somewhere

MASF Raptio/Possessed, Red Panda Tensor, MWFX Judder (pref in the objectively superior wooden box) all fit closely I think. If you’re into a tremolo style thing, percussive trem like EQD Hummingbird could get your there.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Empress Effects Zoia pedal couldn't do it...It's a bit of multitool.

https://patchstorage.com/platform/zoia/ for some of the things it's doing.

Digitech Digidelay in looper mode does more-or-less this, too - hold the pedal to capture a section and it'll start looping when you let go.

Not vocal specific, though.

tkog mini glitch has a momentary mode and should work for vocals. the delay length can be random too, which is unusual
