Thanks
I used to have the Synthasonic frac module which was based on this I believe. Loved it and a highly regarded frac module of old!!

When I worked at Symetrix decades ago, we made a phaser called the Phase Filter that was based on SSM2040 filter chips. It had dual LFOs and external ins etc. We originally designed it to use 3 SSM2040's but the effect was so intense (it bent notes and such) that the production units only had 2 chips installed. It had a GREAT sound. The two filter chips were driven by the same LFOs but the design was such that they never tracked exactly the same - one would always be ahead while the other was catching up to the same frequency. This made for a very beautiful full tonal sound - beauty in inaccuracy. I don't remember how many we sold but we stopped making them decades ago. If you see one used, check it out. They are very sweet. If you have a DIY bent, just use the all pass filter circuit from the SSM2040 data sheet and make two of them in series.

my favorite phaser is my black Sovtek EHX Small Stone...it's in terrible cosmetic shape but still somehow works. it sounds better than any of the non-Russian Small stones i've played with....it's more extreme...i really desparately wish there wasn't the intense volume drop on it

I have a Lovetone Doppelganger dual tremolo/phaser. One lfo for low frequencies and an one lfo for high frequencies. And you can adjust the range of low/high frequencies.

With subtle settings, you can use it on any source and it makes it sound more natural; like a subtle breeze. On extreme settings, it can provide some really nasty modulations. Considering its value, I often think about swaping it for something else, but at the end of the day, I always decide to stick with it.

I had a small stone, stereo poly phaser, bad stone from EHX and the Moog MoogerFooger 12 stage Phaser.

The EHX stereo polyphaser was my favorite for a long time, because it didn't kill all the low frequencies.

The Moog phaser was great as well - especially modulated by some cv sources.

Now I have switched to a digital ( :zombie: ) Source Audio Gemini chorus, which can handle all the algorithms of the lunar phaser as well. With the editor the effect can be tuned according your taste.

Does anybody know if the Pittsburgh Modular Phaser can produce a more classic shimmering sweet phasing effect? The demos I've found are kind of wild (I like wild) and I can't tell if it can also do the creamy, smooth, shimmery stuff too.

There's the mode machines krautrock phaser? A little pricey, but still available I think.

I'm rocking the TC XII b/k, it's not a clone but can get reasonably close.

Just shot one of these on local Ebay announces. Its this kind of effect that I always searched for, but never been quite sure what it is. Used in a more "unconventional" Style those things are pure bliss

I've got a Palthegiraffe Milton Slade that I can't seem to take out of my setup for more than a day. From what I understand his stuff is all old bent and rehoused DODs.

I still have all my hardware phasers, the only software phaser I ever use is the Soundtoys plugin. You should be set if you do things in the box. I only use the MF103 with synths, the rest of my phasers sit on a shelf or get used pretty exclusively with guitar/bass.

And anyone know where I could get my Mode Machine's Krautrock phaser fixed?

Currently the only Phasers besides modular (Serge) that I have are:

Boss PH-3 on a Micromoog and a Castle Instruments Phaser III that floats around the studio. I also have an Alesis Faze that is good for electric bass.

I prefer the analog.

Two Roland system 500 572 phasers in stereo is what i am using nowadays.
Next to the Boss ph-1 ph-2 and ph-3(sheppard tone like rise/fall mode ftw).

Anyone else got the Dwarfcraft Ghost Fax? I'm really digging it, but more for the extra stuff it can do with feedback and the manual control. It's kind of my secret weapon, and has pushed me to explore more feedback effects. Neat-o!

Here's the Knobby review:

Now have an EH Small Stone reissue on my Roland RS-09 and am considering either an EH Bad Stone or MXR 100 for my Micromoog. Out of all of the fancy phasers out there these just sound so classic.

Down to three phasers now (Alesis Faze, EH Small Stone and Castle Electronics Phase III).

Has anyone been able to get their hands on the new Bi-Phase reissue? Not a lot of content out there on it, but, from what I understand, it's pretty much a part for part replica done by the man himself:
