No. 116 3/24/14
No. 93 3/23/15
No. 68 3/13/16 (projected delivery before end of 2017)
No. 64 1/25/17 (No. 25 DKII List)
No. 59 9/9/17 (25 DKII List)
No. 49 8/23/18 (25 DKII List)
No. 39 11/17/19
No. 24 02/20/21 (25 DKII List)

My kid was just a few weeks old when I got on the list, and he's old enough to patch the modular now.
One day he'll be able to buy you malt liquor. And you can twist the glorious knobs together.

Here's what he told me on the DKII list: "Unfortunately we have abandoned our plans to make the DK2 keyboard again, after learning that our supplier has none available any more. The contact systems on new keyboards are different so this would require quite an extensive re-design. Which we don't have the appetite for right now."

This is unfortunate but I am not surprised. The folks who were able to get the new ones have immediate collectors items!

That’s too bad but not really surprising. I didn’t understand how he was planning to build an original version of the dk2 these days. Building the mechanical assemblies for a truly cv keyboard in quantities fewer than 10’s of 1000’s must be an astronomically expensive project.

It doesn't have to be. I wrote how to do it in a reply or two in the DIY section of MW.
You essentially make a TH PCB with gold guitar wire formed into trapezoid loops and J-wires. Add resistors and a caps and you've got a vintage contact system. Make the PCB the same size and mounting as a currently MFd 'bubble contact' KBD and Bobs yer uncle. Replacing the existing KBD contact PCB is much easier than trying to adapt the carbon buttons to old circuits. <--Unless you're adding fetures and then you're back to Robin's answer.

I think that Robin wants to focus on 1) finishing Synthi 'A' production and 2) VCS3 production to be steady and not hindered by trying to build keyboards (just my opinion, he hasn't told me anything I must add). Both are a good thing in my opinion.

:agree:
Synthi's and VCS3's are definitely higher priority. Good to focus on them.

But also good not to let something as easily solved as a proper set of contacts keep anyone from making a DK style KBD.

He told me the other day that he can only manufacture 10 more, and because I am number 25 that would mean that there would have to be a high drop-out rate before I could be promised one. If you look at the timeline you will see that while there have been 40 VCS3s produced, I'm still at 25 on the DKII list. This tells me that DKII production hasn't progressed at all.
