208C arrived!!! And it fit in the custom designed Sky Easel case! Whew......
First impressions. It sounds better than my first issue BEMI easel did. One of my standard patches, the LPGs were pluckier and the reverb sounds WAY better. Turning up the reverb doesn't diminish the dry signal, it adds reverb. This modern age, it melts my brain.....

Congrats! Post some of that sweet LPG “pluckiness” if you get a moment. :cloud:

Do you know if the rear audio outputs are balanced or unbalanced?

Wow, just about to purchase a used easel with 208r before I saw this. Bad idea? Will this module make the 208r obselete?!

Definitely not. It's not the same instrument.

Thanks Papz. I guess I should have been more specific; does the 208c beat /replace the 208r if we are looking at the modules only, putting the sequencer/ controller aside for the moment?

The various 208 module versions sound, behave and feel different and are not the same instrument although the panel and features look similar. That's what I mean.
Imho neither the 208e nor the 208c can beat / replace a properly built 208p or 208r in terms of sound, reliability, serviceability and build quality.
There are plenty of threads on this purpose.

Ah, I see what you mean. Thanks for clarifying. I’m looking forward to my new old easel!

I received my easel yesterday. It has a 208R built by Roman and a Buchla USA 218. I also have a eurorack system with mannequins and random source serge modules that I love.

The sound of this instrument is phenomenal. Gobsmacked! Even without the gorgeous reverb, the oscillators, envelopes and everything else is just stunning. So thanks Papz, was reconsidering the purchase but so glad I went through with it.

I might consider getting a 208c one day for comparison but for now im a happy camper :)

Hey There!
I'm really curious about this 208c. Have you tried it yet with the Sensel? I see one in the background there. I'm really curious how it works with assigning various parameters of the midi to the functions on the Easel? Could you theoretically assign anything on the Sensel to anything on the Easel?

Ps. Your case looks awesome!

I can't really answer your question (nor can anyone yet). I have the C module, all midi functionality is via the command module where midi is part of the power supply module. So once the commands ship, people will be able to test the abilities/limits of the midi integration. I am working to complete the buss link to my 200e system, to see the extent of the i2c implementation. Will post my findings when I get there. Shot some video with it the other day, will also try to get that up, if it makes it through edit/post production.

And thanks, I am happy with the case. Was never a fan of the plastic suitcase. The metal shop is working on an adaptor/ bracket, that will hold aux cards parallel with the 208 face, for ease of use and support so the card is not just carried by the slot. As per usual the first one was not quite right....

What's up with Foxtone's poor communication? Sent them both an email and left a voicemail over a week ago. Nothing.

Same here, they helped me upgrade my Skylab and then stopped responding. I asked them if they had an Easel Command and haven't heard back. They are in Minneapolis, so I hope they're okay.

I spoke to Wes at Foxtone last week about a powered busboard for my skylab case. I had previously emailed BOTH Buchla and Foxtone to no avail. So it seems calling them is the way to go.

Just got an email from Eric saying that they got the boats and the Commands will be shipping, with Kickstarters first, direct orders second, dealers third, in the order the orders were received.

Sorry mate. That was super harsh of me to say. However, I’m curious how you feel it’s killing the spirit?

I placed my order last night, and I think I managed to sneak into this batch that is shipping in the next few weeks. I ordered the Morph & usb A version. I’ve been wanting a Morph for a long time, so getting them together is really the icing on the cake. I’m selling most of gear to go with a setup consisting of a Pro 3, Easel Command and my eurorack. I’m very excited to finally own an Easel.
