Buchla newbie

Post by AC-130U » Mon Feb 24, 2020 1:57 pm

Been lurking on this sub forum and watching YT videos featuring Buchla modules and I had a question so I decided to try to research DIY Buchla modules for the 200e series.

The only dealer that I could find that sells kits is SAmodular. I know there are a couple others out there (Roman, verbos, maybe CGS).

I would love to have the system 7 but at $30k I would probably have better luck trying to win the lottery with my current financial situation).

I was also looking to see if there was anyone in my area who had a 200e setup that I could at least be able to stand in front of. As of right now with my asking around I haven't found anyone.

I don't think you mentioned where your "local area is"?
Also - pretty sure there are no "E" DIY systems. Lots of DIY 200 systems. but as far as I am aware only a few people have done any "E" modules that are not Buchla (dougCL?) and they aren't DIY.

e-series has preset management and there aren't kits available.

You can buy non-preset management capable kits from non-Buchla providers.

Right, what I found were those modules that would work in a 200e setup but without the "e" features (259, 292c, 281 from SAmodular).

Yes I should have made that distinction with regards to the e ending.

Well, not anywhere near Provo, but if you are ever in Orange county (Disneyland? Namm?) you are welcome to stop by and have a go on my DIY 200 (and some 100) system.

Like mentionned in previous posts, if you go DIY, it will be 200, not 200e.
And Verbos is not selling Buchla kits. Neither is CGS.
And others like Roman used to, had PCBs (+ panels). Not kits with components etc. So you'd need to source by yourself.

https://electricmusicstore.com still has PCBs that Roman did and panels I guess.
