Buchla-Format Cables

Post by jimfowler » Sun Mar 15, 2020 3:31 pm

I got a request to build some cables and thought that while Steffen has the European folks covered re: cables there's nobody in the U.S. doing the same so I figured I'd put the offer up here as well. Lengths and prices below:

20cm - $10.00
30cm - $12.00
40cm - $14.00
55cm - $16.00
70cm - $18.00
100cm - $20.00

The cables are hand-made using Switchcraft 780 plugs and Canare GS-4 cable. The cable is 4.0mm in diameter which is just a hair thicker than Pomona cables (~3.6mm). The lengths are tip-to-tip and were chosen to match the overall lengths of Pomonas just to keep things uniform (for example, the 20cm length corresponds to B-4 Pomona length).

Cables have a 1-year warranty. Lead time varies based on size of order. If you're interested, PM here or email info@jimtronix.net

No but domestic shipping is gratis on orders over 99 bucks.

The idea is less about making bucks making these but moreso giving people an option for cables that don't break mid-set and aren't repairable.

Can you make these with gray cables, like the Buchla-branded ones?

I totally get not wanting two different color cables in your audio cable collection and gray was my first choice. I’ve contacted both Canare and Mogami (the two cable manufacturers that I feel make the nicest product) and for single conductor at this size (~4mm) it’s black only, unfortunately, so I opted for quality over aesthetics. I’m open to suggestions but I’ve probably made up about a bajillion miles of cable at this point and not all cable is made the same. The quality of the aforementioned brands is unbeatable so far as I can tell.

I built a ton of cables for myself using GS-4 last fall and it's wonderful. If you want quality cables this is the way to go!
