225e Internal Bus Problems
I’ve spent today sussing out midi communication between my Octatrack and the 225e. I just want to know if it’s user error on my part (very probable) or something with the software that’s out of my control that’s going on here.
1. How to I change the internal bussing? Even when I change the midi channel to 2 on the Internal bus B all pitch information for the 261e is coming from busA channel 1. How do I change this? The desired functionality is for me to be able to have two independent sequences coming from the octatrack, 1 track going to bus A, sending pitch info to the 259e, and another octa track going to bus B, sending pitch info to the 259e. I’ve read that there are dip switches in on the back of the modules but mine doesn’t have an sw switch that can be switched to “A” or “B”.
2. On that topic I can’t get the 281e to get any internal bussing info from the 225e. When I hold down quadrature on the 281e it says "module 281 D1". When I hold remote enable on the 292e it says “module 292 D1.
3. Lastly, Fast sequences aren’t being picked up by the 281e. I see the midi light blinking per step on the 225e, but the 281e skips over them when they’re too fast. Is there a fix for this?
Any help is much appreciated as always.

Re: 225e Internal Bus Problems
Indeed, the answer lies in the dipswitches on the back. These determine which bus the module is set to. The 225e is then used to select which MIDI channel to assign to each bus.
So: dipswitches assign bus, 225e assigns MIDI channel.
You will need to fiddle with the dipswitches to work out which configuration selects which bus.

Re: 225e Internal Bus Problems
There are two switches, so a total of four positions are possible: on/on, on/off, off/on, and off/off. These allow you to select one the four buses. You can press and hold the remote button to display the firmware version. The bus will also be displayed. So you can see which switch positions select which bus. Use the 225e to associate the MIDI channel you are using to the bus you are using.
Re: 225e Internal Bus Problems
Thanks!!
I changed the dip switches and the 281e is now working as expected. It's still necessary to connect the 281e to the 292e though correct? The 292e wasn't getting the envelope without connecting.
I changed the 261e dip switches to B but it's still receiving pitch information from Bus A. Even when I change the midi channel to 2 it's still receivin pitch info from channel 1. Thoughts?

Re: 225e Internal Bus Problems
Yes, still necessary to connect 281e to 292e, though I believe that MIDI velocity values will still go directly to 292e over the MIDI bus.
Make sure that your paired 281e and 292e are on the same bus, you have to set dip switches to match.
Regards your second question, it sounds like you have two MIDI channels going to the same bus. Makes sure BUS A is no longer on channel 1.

Re: 225e Internal Bus Problems
Thanks so much!! It's all working perfectly now. I changed the internal bus for the 259e to "A" and the 261e to "C". Now that I have my midi configuration worked out with the Octatrack I'm up and running.
Last question (for now)... Is it possible to overide the velocity information coming from the internal busses? Plugging in a banana cable from another location doesn't seem to be breaking the normal.
Thanks again!

Re: 225e Internal Bus Problems
I don't think its possible to override the velocity information on the MIDI bus. In fact, I had to take out my 292e and flip the dip switches the other day as I was getting some unwanted velocity by way of MIDI.
