Thanks! The week before last.
I was actually using "attache case" for my keywords when I stumbled upon it. Hope that helps others find one. It's really not a glamorous case. The only thing that would indicate its value to someone not in the know, would be the Made In England labelling.

Good luck!

Very nice, I bet you couldn't believe it when you found it!
I use generic keywords like 'retro/vintage suit/briefcase' etc. and just trawl through pages of rubbish haha.
You've inspired me to keep at it though!

He is taking reservations fo DK2’s. No idea if he’s started shipping any yet, though.

It's been years already since he started taking reservations for the DK2...as usual, haven't seen anything coming through...

Although I put myself on the waitlist for a DK-2, I sometimes question if I want a keyboard for well-tempered music. Methinks the EMS Synthi is best used for creating experimental sounds, and a keyboard would kind of defeat the point?

I agree. Though some kind of non-quantised sequencer or touchpad ala Buchla 216 would definitely be a fun addition.

I'd rather have the keyboard than not.

the keyboard doesn’t instantiate the necessity or even condition of equal temperament. take thomas lehn’s work for example, which amply deploys the keyboard to manipulate voltages and modulation dynamics

Besides which, the Synthi A/VCS-3 sounds great for pitched music, which is the vast majority of what I use mine for. The whole "sound effects" thing is really lazy typecasting.

Although EMS equipment is more than capable to create melodic types of music, that is not the reason why I find them to be appealing. I find them interesting because the design lends itself to make unique sounds that I can’t easily replicate with other equipment. If I wanted to create more traditional Western melodies, I would much rather use my Memorymoog for that....

My modest experience of different synthi A showed me that some of them seems to need maintenance or something and near impossible to play well-tempered music while some others are just much easier to set up for it...

A good working Synthi is able to play tempered music.
Many Synthis are not good working, despite what their owner may believe.

I'm not a synths dealer and I'm not aware of an inexpensive Synthi secret market, please don't ask me if I know one for sale.

I'd also be in on a case!

I've been on the list since August 2014 and I'm number 55 now. So look forward to the day.

Okay guys, this has to be possible somehow. There's at least 20+ users around here who would want a Spartanite case.. I know mold mothers are crazily expensive, but is there no other way? I mean we don't want mass production with ten thousands of these case.. only a few hundrets I guess.
I am willing to contribute to paying flight tickets for user @sanders to travel to China in order to provide them his case for copying duties :-)

Yes I did and it's an amazing read with lots of new infos and stories for me.
For everyone who missed it: I found a PDF version of it online.. I think it got deleted - at least I can't seem to find it anymore
Screw it, I'm in as well!

I just got confirmation today that I'm at No.5 on the Synthi A list... the next batch of 5 is soon to be getting underway, so a 2020 delivery of some kind looking likely!

Looks like av production is around 7 a year, judging from my progress up the list (I was #19 in Oct 2017). So not too long to wait, #14...

I feel fortunate I found a case for sale last year in the US... I had to pay for it (seller knew what it was) but will be worth it, I think. Seems like the only way to stay on the list these days is byo case...
