Trying out polyrythms with Piano and Modular

Post by passivist » Thu Jan 23, 2020 3:17 am

This one required a bit more pre planning than usual. I wanted to explore polyrythmical patterns a bit. So I thought I'd give the thing a bit more structure to keep myself limited somewhat and not risk going too much overboard with experimentation. I ended up needing quite a bit of practice for this but I hope to experiment more with this idea in the future.

The synth is made up out of my usual combo of two Even-VCOs with the BF-22 MS20 style filter and some FM cross modulation on the VCOs. The piano is recorded using two Octava Mk-12s. The beat was built with samples in Ableton.

Hope you enjoy!

Really like this performance, great sound and vibe.

Edit: *After several listens Jaw drops to the floor*

This is a crazy good performance, doesn't get much better in my book. Do you have this available as mp3? I couldn't find it on your soundcloud and I'd really like a quality audio version of it. I'm more than willing to pay for it.

Cheers to an off the wall performance!

Nice work. It’s enjoyable to see you going back and forth from one instrument to another. Are you using an external sequencer to get the pitched material on the synth?
