I gotta say, Merzbow - Space Metalizer is *the* synth noise cd for me.

Some cool gear that I've found:
http://mruglysinstruments.blogspot.com/ (have some stuff on order and will report in when received)
http://ericarcher.net/devices/ (drone commander seems very cool. Am ordering one)
http://www.zebranalogic.com/ (my god, check out the circular oscillator - and youtube has this totally sci-fi looking new version - the circular oscillator VIII)
These seem pretty insane: http://www.dewanatron.com/

I love prowling around for this shit.

The folks in Far Rockaway NY have been killing it lately. Halflings, John Mannion, Tension Fields, Teeny Bopper, theres more, I forget, that girl that wears the leather jumpsuit and screams a lot... um ...a ton of great bands/acts coming through NC lately. TimeGhost out of Providence was most recent good noise to play round here

Just saw Timeghost @ The Red Light District in Far Rockaway last week. Great dude, awesome set. I love those dudes over there. Always a good time.

Any noise wigglers going to Merzbow in Brooklyn next week? We should say hello to each other

:despair: sad but true, the Tronics link on the first page no longer takes you to the helpful/awesome forum... its just the Tronics record store.. (good deals and noise, just not the resource it once was.)

Yeah, long story on that demise. Some of the more constructive elements have had a go at fanning the embers in hope of summoning a phoenix. Pretty slow as yet..

It appears I need to give some TLC to this thread, I'll get to that this weekend.

About five years since this thread was started....Doom and synth...
I wonder how this "genre"
has fared- since then... if it's ever
gotten legs? I can only think of a handful
of bands, if that. I must be missing a few.

Success to be gauged in quality, not quantity!

DA/AD-
Sorry I forgot about thread...feel free to add... Any/everyone else too, ftm.
I'd say Ufomammut first. By far the band having the most music out with both elements - consistently. After that the synth parts get less. Synth with some guitar, or guitar with synth on some songs.

Static White Demon has elements. OM. Sun O))) collabs. (depending on the project) A couple of James Plotkin projects I can't recall atm?
I'll ad to my list with a "currently active" pre-req - as much as possible.
