These look absolutely fantastic. Whenever I leave the forums for a bit I end up just walking back into a sea of temptation.

...any chance you'll offer a Serge resonant EQ in single width MU format?

It's an awesome module, and I get that you must be short on space, but surely it at least warrants a double panel for easier manipulation? The Euro slider version would mount sideways in 2U. Or I might at least pick a single row of dual concentric pots if it had to be 1U, to be able to get your fingers on it a little better. I had mine set up like that for a while and it was fairly playable. Definitely a 'color' EQ so it seems like more of a hands-on player to me.

I'm not shopping, though, so no one needs to heed my dumb ideas.

:yay:

in all seriousness though, speaking of bananas, one thing i've immediately discovered using Serge derived 5u modules is how much stackable banana cables are part of the Serge workflow - especially on modules like the SSG. link switches and such can help a bit, but plan on extra mult modules if you want to be able to freely explore.

A resonant EQ in a double-wide MU panel would also be great! It would also give you space to add a 12th knob for a nice organized layout (three knobs across, four rows high) for some new feature like a wet/dry mix, or a dedicated feedback level control....

the feedback level control & phase switch on the R*S ResEQ are brilliant!

alas the CGS522 does not offer such, so it would have to be another new PCB design instead of a simple 5u port.

This is a significant point. Not to say the same circuit in a different format ain’t no good, but I would for sure expect to use them differently.

I second @bwhittington, please don't do tiny knobs and overcrowded panels. Serge resonant EQ would barely fit in 2U.
Personally, I tend to avoid modules which use the following:
- 3 knobs per row for 2U
- 3 jacks per row for 1U

I know, I'm probably in minority on this, but if space is paramount, just switch to Euro. I mean, isn't it the main advantage of MU, that we don't have to wiggle with tweezers?
Black Knobs are dead!

Looks great, Doug, but are you certain you want to provide folks with a way to EQ a resonance at 29Hz? Sounds like a recipe for clipped power amplifiers and blown speakers...

Or am I unclear on the concept... :hmm:

those are just the original frequencies of this particular EQ. the 29Hz band is actually quite useful musically.

NP. You are clear on your concept, and I can't say you are wrong in your thinking Sir!

To the best of my knowledge, 29Hz was on the original Serge design, so to stay true to the Master and his design, I wanted to respect that. Not to mention that the panels are already made! :hmm: :hihi:

Re SSL Serge Rez EQ.
Yes. Nice work
But needs some distinction for comb 1 and comb 2. Future could be a dot on left or right of each slider Freq label. Or change 5 of ten slider LEDs to alternate color.
As is, gonna be hard to keep which is which clear during frenzied patching. Having to stop and think on the way to a knob is not usually conducive to best flow. When that thinking is tryin to find a comb1 knob somewhere in the middle of the ten sliders.

If Doug is using the same sliders/LEDs as his other modules, the LEDs pull right out and you can drop in custom colors to indicate Comb 1 vs. 2.
If we were extremely unmotivated, we'd ask him what the part numbers are for his red and green LEDs (from the VC ADSR) to speed up our search.

Sure. But different colors can have different brightness and forward voltage requiring different resistors.
Easier if Doug either does that or provides for it.

I'd end up addng two more jacks to have comb 1and 2 inputs also.
