Finishing off my massive handmade Rubicon-2 project. I just have to make a panel, and I'm done. This thing has been months in the making, but for most of those months the first prototype was collecting dust on my workbench while I worked on other stuff. However, after one last big push (and a client who wanted a set of boards), it is now basically all done.

A beginning is a very delicate time. Know then, that it is the year 2019. The known universe is ruled by a mighty god called '5u' which has decimated, my wallet. But hidden away within the depths of my gear closet are a group known as the 'Moogerfoogers', who have long held a prophecy that one day a synth would come, a messiah, who would lead them to true freedom.

Is today that day?

5u, meet the Moogerfoogers.

Moogergoofers, meet 5u.

This should be interesting...

Naturally, I heard this in Princess Irulians voice and the Eno/Toto intro music as well. That is a hell of a soundtrack and now I know what I'll be watching tonight..because it wont "get out of my mind" otherwise.

That might have been a good name for one of the talking vowel sound modules. Good question but in the mean time, for your background listening enjoyment...

The University that I attend had an open house day where students from most high schools in the area take a tour throughout the school and check out each program the school has to offer. Our electronics class had a little display to demonstrate binary and digital logic to people as they went through our class/lab. I asked my teacher if I could bring in my modular and talk about modular synthesis to the students, he said sure, so I did just that and brought in my modular rig and explained how basic subtractive synthesis works and provided a little live demonstration (unfortunately no videos/audio). The open house went on for around 6 hours and I got to talk to a total of around 1-2 thousand high-schoolers about modular synthesis. It was good fun, though a little exhausting. My throat was really dry by the end of the day.

Here's some pics, I'm the guy on the right.

One of my classmates made a cheesy advert and stuck it on the side of my modular. Apparently I now offer DJ services :hihi:

Excellent! Good age for inspiration and exposure to modular.

Well done,

Winner! Yup. At the start of the year they had everyone solder a little Christmas tree to introduce us to soldering. One of the other students in my class told me I should hook it up so that it lights up with the modular.

I bought a couple of those a couple years back and put them together. The ones I got had the acrylic cases and looked a little fancier (because of the cases). Last year friends who seen them really liked them. So this year I bought a dozen of them. You can get a little bit of discount at Banggood when you buy a quantity of them.

There isn't much components as far as transistors and resistors each but there is like 36 or so LED's per kit. Times that by 12 and that takes quite awhile to build.

I gave most of them away, everyone loved them. :tu:
