Thank you DrReverendScience and umma gumma.
It was more of an experimental exercise and the elements are a bit too dense for me. If I decide to work it further, it needs to be thinned out and orchestrated with more care. There are a few too many things happening all together and some sounds could be eliminated entirely. I also want to add in some counter theme to work better against the mundane "circle of fifths" loop.

Anyway it was a fun weekend project to test my evolving studio setup. It's always good to see and read what the 5U community is up to and I thought it was time I added in some content instead of reading and lurking all the time.

If all goes according to plan I'll be picking up my first 5U-synth tomorrow. A Moog Model 15 + Keyboard. Really looking forward to that, just keeping my fingers crossed that the shipping company don't f-up.

You do realize there is an obligation to give us a listen - since you mentioned it. I'm in no way jealous of course.
Seriously, that is so cool. The Model 15 is the real deal.

Yesss... that will sound sweet. On a completely unrelated note, if you are ever in Asheville NC, don't miss the chance to take the Moog factory tour.

Thanks guys! It arrived friday in perfect condition.

It sounds and looks so pretty, I love it. :omg:

Yes I know, However I really don't have a good (enough) recording setup right now but I'll try fix that. I think it's against the law to record a synth this nice with my crappy Roland go:mixer.

I'd love to, I'm a big Moog fan. If I'm ever in the area you bet I will visit.

Muff-friends,

A slightly bitter-sweet moment this, as after nearly 6 years of owning some 5U, and well over 10 years of lusting after a large 5U system.....I have finally "finished" building mine. :hyper:

Pictures in the 'Post your pics...' section.

But what am I going to do now? Years of planning, building in tiny increments, adding, more planning, DIY and questionable carpentry...my dream is finally realised. My life now feels empty, devoid of purpose.

Oh well, bugger it...I'll just have to make some music with the bloody thing! :hihi: :bananaguitar: :hihi:

Cheers all :guinness:

Beautiful setup but I was kind of thinking that myself.

It will be one row of 15 modules. Will probably build the last panel, CV/Gate Bus, this weekend.
This is the result:

I added noise and slew limiter dirctly to my Box Elevens.

Maybe not the best result :hihi: but I am happy with it

I used shorter pcb legs (1cm) and I screw the pcbs directly to the bottom of box11. There is still space left to insert some shallow modules on top of it.
Noise pcb is under Signal prosessor and slew pcb is under QuantAid.

This weekend I finally got all my modules unpacked and finished setting up the two main 5u cabinets. So far it looks like all that got damaged in the move was two Moon 2-position switches, one on the LFO expander channel 1 to select between "sync" and "gate" inputs and one on the 525MCP mixer's channel 4 output enable (for now, it's permanently enabled). Shouldn't be too hard to fix but Moon solders all the front panel IO to the PCB so it's fairly annoying to do, and will remain undone for the time being.

I wish everyone followed the Dotcom convention of installing all IO with flying wires to pin headers.

Now all I have to do is finish installing modules in the tall 2-post rack, run an 8-channel snake cable between the two far cabinets, and cable up all the non-modular equipment, mixers, and the patch panel... :ripbanana:

But at least I can wiggle now!

I'm back! Though I never officially left, it's just been quite a while since I've posted here as I have gotten wrapped up in my newfound arcade hobby. That being said, I've finally returned to doing some 5U DIY. I'm getting close to completing the Jurgen Haible Frequency Shifter. It's one hell of a sexy module and I can't wait to mess around with it! I've just got to do the panel wiring, and find one more pot. Hopefully I'll have it done by the end of the weekend.
I also have a 16 space box and a spare PSU laying around so I may put together a little mini system. It would consist mainly of modules I like to use for screechy effects, such as Synthacon VCF, Yusynth Wavefolder, and Yusynth VCAs. Yusynth VCAs can do some gnarly stuff with feedback loops. Insane decaying noise sounds, weird clicky things. You can even use them as a crappy LFO in a pinch.

Hopefully the build goes well and I don't have to troubleshoot because this circuit is quite complex. I'd love to make a video but my phone stopped being able to import videos to my computer for some reason. Maybe I could send it over cloud somehow for editing. I've never made videos for modules but I think it could be fun if I find the time to film/edit one. Of course if not I could at least provide some sounds.

Finished my 5U version of the Music Thing Modular Microphonie.

Music-Thing-Modular-Microphonie-5U.jpg
The original PCB can be fed +/-15V without a problem so no modifications needed. The front panel is from Schaeffer.

So my first post on the new forum format.....still getting used to it...

I finally got all my parts for a few of the FCUK Waverunner modules. I have been looking for clockable LFOs since I only have 4 in my PRO 2 and Paula's super fantastic WTF and Waveplane just beg for synced LFOs! With 2 WTF and 1 Waveplane I am looking forward to some serious rhythmic bliss! I will post a review of the Waverunner after I get the first one built, I want to see how quick and accurate the response is. My gut feeling is that it will be pretty snappy in terms of response to tempo changes, but we will see. I am thinking of clocking it with the PRO 2 and comparing it to the digital LFOs in the PRO 2. Either way I will post my thoughts and experience when I get the first one built....hopefully tonight!!
It is all shits and giggles,

And another 5U version of a Eurorack module. This time DivKid Mutes.

divkid-mutes-5U.jpg
It works on +/-15V but there is some signal bleed when the channel switch is in the OFF position.
Anybody know if the schematics are available somewhere?

This is a great module!

Not really 5U but it works together: I bought an Arturia Beatstep Pro. It is actually really well-made and fun to play. Two sequencers and a 8-ch trigger sequencer, and I paid $150 for mine. Seriously impressed with this thing.
