Hi Boys and Girls,
I just got a box full of happiness from the metal shop!
Here are what the "Bare Blank Panels" look like
up along a few dotcom units.
My main concern was that the shop would botch the dimensions - but they came out fantastic -
as you can visually see from the alignment between the modules.

So, here we have em - 1U, 2U and 4U :-)

Next step - Facial Art !

It took me a year and a bit to get here,
I am SOOOOOO happy I got the panel issue figured out!
Just knowing I can whip out any layout and have it good to go within
a couple of days is amazingly liberating!
The coming year is going to be full of magic smoke
and oscilloscope gazing :-)

Nicely done!

Are you still offering the bare bones panels?

Looks great! :tu: I'd have them drill the mounting holes for you too, probably worth whatever the extra cost would be to save you the trouble?

Hi All -
Thanks for the positive feedback!

JLR -I did consider getting the mounting holes done but that caused a possible alignment error with the faceplates,
so they were removed from the CAD file.

But hey - You just gave me an idea - I could add simple courtesy marks
with a magic marker just to make it easy for those going the BareBone
route. I'll add a sample picture tomorrow - Cheers mate!

Is this still open? Any idea on shipping to the US? (sorry if I missed the obvious somewhere)

GiliRose: Excellent, thanks... I'll probably be ordering at least a rack panel's worth of bare bones for blank fillers (they might turn into something else later)... something like two singles, a double and a quad... maybe more.

PRODUCTION ISSUE

Adventure update: The shop scheduled to do the faceplate prints did a 180 on me
and upped the agreed-to cost to an amount I am not willing to pay.
Hey, the whole point was to reach an economic option, wasn't it? :bang:

So, as I have a box full of "Barebone" MU panels, these are still available,
and I am working on a solution which I hope prove beneficial for all.

To all my PM correspondents - I will contact you each in person.

G.

:nana: Glad to hear this! Do you know what kind of printing/labeling method this one will use yet?

Hi Huba-Swift -
I will be using the exact same method, the difference is in sourcing the materials and fabrication.

I really want to see that 10 step MFOS panel in full scale! :-)
