Logic, looping, and two makes a logical pair of cross-patching buddies! :drinking:

Is this a C106 and VRG killer? Looks very nice in dual.

There's a good reason why the DUSG and Maths are foundation modules in Serge and Eurorack, respectively.
If at first you don't succeed read the instruction manual.

@synthetic - Single vs Dual - Valid question sir, and one that I had been struggling with for a long time. However, this thread is littered with "must be dual" comments which kind of pushed this into a dual unit - despite the (short term?) attractiveness of a possible single unit price.

Also, two wouldn't have the capability of logic between their "internals", two would take up 4 MU instead of 3 MU, and two singles would end up costing more than one dual in the end.

Will the frequency range be extended upwards? Like the Random Source version.
On the current prototype, the top frequency is about 2.5Khz with both rate controls at maximum and shape controls centered. Lowest settings are S_L_O_W (like a couple minutes)! I could work a bit more to get this higher, but do you think that's high enough? 8-)

Fantastic! Is this version retriggerable? It would be nice to throw in VC loop and hold if you could somehow make room.
If I understand your meaning of "retriggerable", no. This is like the original Serge. If it were retriggerable, you'd loose the cool frequency dividing ability. I don't think its possible with a switch either, due to the overall design.

So, I'm changing the two "logic" jacks to be:

Peak and Trough.

Shoot me. Comment. Or shut up! I need to go with SOMETHING!

Who's still "IN" ??????

Sent you a couple pm's about this project, if price had changed and so forth. I'm not one of the cool kids, I guess

I am still not 100% sure about how to use a USG Module but I am still real interested in this. So I can't really comment on the validity of any of the design aspects. I am in the wait and see mindset right now but would more than likely invest in one when I get to getting another cabinet and adding to my system.

Not at all! Your definitely a cool kid! 8-)

I got your PM and sorry for not replying - I've been in & out of the office the last couple days and sometimes things go under the radar. Sorry.

You asked if the price was still going to be around $300. That was for a single USG. Now that its a dual unit, the price will probably be $499.

Theoretically, you still have space for one more logic output. Wouldn't A*B (4 quadrant multiplier/ring mod) be a good choice? Especially for processing DC signals.

I'm interested, but on the fence due to the size. Any chance to go with smaller knobs and fit the same functionality into 2MU? I'm running out of space and it's like deciding which kid to sacrifice...

Uncertain times, for sure.

I'm trying to gauge current interest in the dual Serge USG in 3 MU. I've got all the costs from my vendors at this point and the price of a Genuine Serge Approved Dual USG in 3 MU will be $499. Delivery estimated at end of June.

With things as they are, I'd like to get a couple of deposits. If interested, please PM.

While waiting for the new USG, I've been looking for what else it can do, other than what's already in the description. Here are three more:
VC Clock divider
VC Trigger/Gate width processor
AR, ASR Envelope Generator

this is going to be so useful.

ok hold up ... you mean to tell me that our very own 5U Member *dslocum has actually made the 5U MATHS? One of the Mount Everest 5U modules? WTF over? Where have I been?

Ah ha ha ... wait, I know this one ... I'm wise to ya you fuckers, y'all have been messing with me all along ... I've been under my rock with my head firmly planted up muh behind over the previous year and you've been just holding out on this info waiting to see me make a fool of myself. Well I'll tell ya whut y'bastards ... let the whole world know that I, Rexy, don't need anyone's help to make a fool of myself ... (wait, that didn't come out right ... shit.).

EDIT GODAMMIT:

HA! I just took a look ... I actually posted in this very thread over a year ago on the first page.

Ah well .... looks like I picked a bad decade to stop sniffin glue....

(Excellent effort. Seriously bad ass stuff. Kinda thing that makes a feller go ~hmmmm~ whilst stroking his chin ... "I wonder, could I make this work within my 5U project system ???" ... rhetorical question, that. Great work sir! Damned great work indeed!).

as have oakley (well half so you would need 2) and corsynth has a similar offering..

https://corsynth.com/home/modules/c106vcad

and j3rk built me a dusg module as well... as he would most likely if you asked.. :)
the dynamix as seen here..

to be fair... SSL's USG is based on an updated and extended circuit (MK2 XL), which has improved tracking with temperature compensation, peak and trough outputs, and fall gates. 6 control knobs per channel is a substantial usability improvement as well.

BTW, j3rk's DYNAMIX looks amazing. Some beautiful custom work.

It took a bit longer to get these ready - sorry. I ran out of knobs, but we are shipping the first few units today, and NoiseBug should have stock in about a week or so.
:guinness:

I want to thank Serge for all his help getting this improved design into the MU format. Yay Serge!

aye, I have one of Rich's CGS-based DUSG as well as a couple Corsynth C106 - and an actual 4u DSG mk2 XL - and the SSL combines the best features of all of them. a very cool module, bravo!! :yay:
