Any way to record/play CV in MU?

Post by TimeRaveler » Mon Dec 30, 2019 8:38 pm

I’ve been eyeballing the Intellijel Planar2 pretty hard, mainly for the the record/playback aspect, but if there was a CV recorder available in MU or even standalone I could avoid starting a Eurorack (slippery slope) and get the Analog Craftsman Arcade for my joystick needs. Obviously there are a few options in euro but I REALLY don’t want to get started down that road again!!

Ideally it would have at least 2 channels and a way to trigger playing.

Not the ideal solution, but there is a CV Recorder sketch for the 20Objects Ardcore. Although it only has one analog output, I'm pretty sure one can use a slew limiter to obtain a smooth output from either of the two digital outputs, so in theory you could have two inputs and two outputs... or one input and two outputs, and use the other input to choose which channel to record/playback. The downside is that it doesn't have much memory (maybe only 30-40 seconds at a 50 Hz samplerate) and the CV outputs would not be precise (i.e. ok for modulation but not for pitch signals).

Modcan made a couple of different 5U CV recorder modules but they are no longer in production.

If you are keen at DIY, there is the CV Memory from Ozoe:

The page is in french but translatable with Google. Not the easiest project, tho.

DIY a (wooden) case that is exactly the right size for the Planar and use a uZeus power supply. You’ll have your Planar and no room in your case to expand.

Decided to go with a Pod40x to hold the Planar as well as Pressure Points + Brains. That should keep my lust to expand in check...hopefully!
