Discrete Ladder Filter update from LWSS

Post by Flareless » Mon Feb 17, 2020 7:22 pm

We've just released a new single width version of the Oakley Discrete Ladder VCF. Unlike the traditional 1U MOTM design the Lower West Side Studio version features 2 separate inputs as well as 1V/OCT.

If you're looking for that classic 904 filter sound you can't beat the Oakley DLF! If space is tight then the DLF-1U is the answer.

Thanks! The DLF is still my personal favourite "Desert Island" VCF.

I'm putting together some audio samples to post here.

Here's a quick recording I made using 2 Discrete Ladder Filters, a couple of oscillators, some noise and a few envelopes

This demo features 2 patches each featuring its own DLF

- Patch 1: MFOS VCO + Oakley VCO through DLF. Modulated with Oakley VRG and wiggled live.

- Patch 2: Hexinverter Jupiter Storm through MFOS 8 Stage Phase Shifter through DLF through Q115 Reverb. Modulated with 3 Hexinverter SympleSEQs and wiggled live

Both tracks ended were processed through a Yusynth VC Panning mixer and gently panned with a CGS114 DUSG.

SoundCloud reproduction does not do these filters justice. Playing this live and running it through a subwoofer shook the windows in my studio.

Hey Rich - It looks great! A quick question about it: on Oakley’s website it looks like the CV2 pot is bipolar, but on your module it looks like it is positive only. Is your’s uni or bi polar?

Thanks! Good eye there MrN.

This photo is of my prototype and the label was incorrect. The control is in fact bipolar.
