Dead Cyndrustries Zeroscillator

Post by brian_mcnett » Fri Feb 28, 2020 12:55 pm

I'm an infrequent poster to this forum at best, so go easy on me.

After over a decade of use (and two years in storage while I was in search of housing), it appears my Zeroscillator has given up the ghost. I have perhaps enough expertise of my own to repair it, but neither the equipment, nor the time, nor the inclination to do it myself, and tooling up to do one repair job is not in my budget.

Who would I talk to about servicing this beast?

Dave Brown / https://modularsynthesis.com/ may be able to help, or point you in the right direction.

Doug Slocum / SSL might have contact with some folks who worked for Cynthia, who may have docs/info that could help.

Is this the original deep through-hole one, or the later shallow SMT version?

I know Doug Slocum, so I may reach out to him. Portland isn't TOO far away, so that's a possibility too.

Thanks for the help!

BTW, this *is* the through-hole version. It's fricken GORGEOUS. It'd be a joy to service myself if I had the equipment (which just simply isn't ever happening).

Would choose Dave Brown. Not only will he fix it, we'll all benefit from his documenting the journey to do so.

I'd honestly recommend sending it Dave's way for the joy of reading a nerdy document about his repairing adventure alone.
If you find the ZO's guts gorgeous, then Brown's article will be certainly interesting.

If it's been in storage, I wouldn't be surprised if re-seating the ridiculous number of connectors on that thing would bring it back to life.
