Urgh, posting malfunction.
If at first you don't succeed read the instruction manual.

thinking about it.. people in here dont mind a bit of cheating ..cp3 sub osc effects etc..
might as well get a polyD thats a 4 x 3 osc minimoog clone.. that should sound pretty big! ,,for the price of 2 or 3 5u/eurorack modules :)

In euro I have my Dual VCO module which are the same VCOs that are in the 5U ASV. And which pairs nicely with the DLF which is the same circuitry as the 5U Discrete Ladder Filter (904 and CP3 clone).

You do have to build them yourself though.

I've always loved the sound of 5U modular. I'm guessing it's the higher voltage used that makes it sound beefier than stuff I hear from Eurorack. I have a Eurorack setup because it's as compact as I want it to be, but I've wanted to get a small 5U system because I really love the sound of a lot of the modules from this format.

My main purpose is to find an analog Osc or synth that will be used for providing raw and deep sounding bass. I don't need to use it for anything more than that (no fx, no leads, etc.) though I know I would love to go down a rabbit hole, but that would distract me from my personal goals right now.
(snip)
There are differences between the waveshapes of various analog oscs and not all saw waves are the same. This can have a noticeable impact on the sound.

The point is that none of this is related to 5U versus Euro. It has nothing to do with panel size or voltage rails.
well put.

while i think there are many things that can make up a distinctive sound of 5U formats, running at at higher voltage levels can't be one of those things. the impression that you sonically have more headroom at higher voltages is false. in the digital domain you can talk about resolution (discrete) but in the analog domain you don't have resolution (continuous). if your signal is 15v peak to peak or 1v peak to peak it does not matter. it's still two continuous ranges.
