Five feels a nice home size (for me at least) with a racked mixer (Soundcraft MTK 12) next to it. Top row of red processing, then mix of synthvoice / reds sound makers / blue protos fill the other 4 frames though still juggling/changing.
Two Fives side-by-side feels a nice studio size.

If possible I would love a 3 frame boot. Unfortunately both places I have contacted locally have not replied as yet. Obviously no problem if you are just ordering 5 frames, thought I'd ask just in case.

I think Chris ordered direct from the place I used? http://bristoldesignforge.co.uk/

Maybe that's a good idea? // what was postage like with them, Chris?

They were well priced - fairly rough & ready, but fine for my needs

Yeah, same guys. Quality is ok - it won't blow your mind but once the cheeks are attached I don't really care to notice any imperfections. Postage was fine - it worked out as

£39 for 2 x 3row bomber cheeks £ 2 x 2 row boot cheeks
+
£10 postage
+
VAT
=
£58.80

Which is a lot cheaper than anyone I spoke to in London,

Slightly off topic, but how do you find the recording quality of this mixer Tom? For an analog mixer + interface, it seems like a bargain.

I find it absolutely fine - not quite sure I can compare with anything else sound-wise (and I slather everything with Filter/Delay/Comp!) but the built in multitracking for the price made the decision.
Set up as: 4 mono sound sources from the modular.
2 Mono returns from COFilter & PT Delay (channels 5 &6)
1st stereo channel is return from Pitchfactor/BAM
2nd stereo is return via the SComp - which is fed from the group - so everything passes through it for general nice sounding results & a convenient stereo mixdown (multitracks are all pre eq & fader)

I'm much better at recording long plays than actually listening back to them and/or doing anything further! Hours of wandering sonic sketches!

Good to know - I especially like the idea of having a live mixdown (and thus using the SComp more often). Was thinking I could get by with an interface (no mixer), but at this price range / number of inputs, a Send/Return is often omitted.

It's a vast world to explore.

Having got a couple of the 3-Frame Boots made up, I'm actually finding the spacing between the frames a bit less than ideal - the angle is too sharp or the gap needs to be greater.. (guess that's why in the pre-2013 boots I had a physical spacer bar).
It is just about workable, but.. tighter than I'd like, so continuing to think - all an experiment!

How'd you read that?! But, yes. Should put it into production, but other things jumped the queue. Also came up with a similar layout version multiplier (ringmod) but that'd def need some testing first!

I actually couldn't read it, but looked at the no of jacks and knobs and lengths of the words on the print and took a punt :hihi:

Nope! Stereo Mixer with Aux -- aimed for the processing frame.

You're gonna go crazy if/when Ben DivKid's workshop video comes through.. He just came by to chat before Machina Bristronica tomorrow. Lots of protos unseen!

Just a quick question before I get in touch with the Bristol laser cutter shop: these designs are compatible with old bug modular frames, correct?

I'm looking at getting the 5frame boot.

2 old frames would go on top, two modern frames would go just below, and I'm saving the last bottom frame (desk-angled) for some clock modules that I plan to add later on down the road.
