More power for your Orgone Accumulator MK2
More power for your Orgone Accumulator MK2
I took time to make new firmwares ready to upload to the Teensy with different sets of wavetables.
This firmware will only work on your MK2.
Just ask me if you need a version for the earlier version of the Orgone that I made, I can do that if needed.
You only need a USB cable with Mini-B connector and the free Teensy Loader Application.
Here I show how to do (don’t forget the module needs to be unplug from power in your modular system!). The comments at the end of my video about „experimental“ alternative firmware are not related to this thread.
• Scrotum Lab set 1: FM Synth
Download here.
In post nr. 6 you can hear a few examples with this set.
• Scrotum Lab set 2: Digital
Download here.
In post nr. 7 you can hear a few examples with this set.
• Scrotum Lab set 3: Overtone
Download here.
In post nr. 8 you can hear a few examples with this set.
• Scrotum Lab set 4: Stereo

In post nr. 9 you can hear a few examples with this set.

Sorry I don't participate much in other threads and I can't show more or make more consistent videos. It takes quite a lot of time that I don't have at the moment.

hmmm!
That sounds really great! Might have to give this a try.
What was your process for generating/choosing the wavetables, if you don't mind? (Just curious - I'm not looking to do it myself anytime soon.) Although sometimes (often times) less is more (than enough), here is a sort of safari list of wavetables:
http://www.galbanum.com/content/product ... Manual.pdf
One other idea that came to mind... replacing the 8 effect settings with 1 constant effect and 8 banks of wavetables. Although maybe not a good trade-off as the effects are pretty sweet.
Thanks for this nice bonus!

All waveforms present on the Orgone Accumulator come from here. You can have a look at them here./\/\/\/ wrote:What was your process for generating/choosing the wavetables, if you don't mind?
A great source made available online with enough material to play with for years!
You could also make your own under OS X using Processing and an app called Audition4 if you are not happy with the thousand of adventurekid waveforms.
Notice that you still need to edit the code itself and compile to get them to the Teensy.
A comment about Audition4:
IMHO Audition4 is only useful to listen to a waveform or to edit your own (which is already good actually and it's great it was done and proposed for free). Because it only holds the waveforms in RAM and you have to let the Orgone connected to your computer which for me is not an option. Pers. I use a modular system, not to have to use computer to play music.
Not sure the memory would hold all wavetable sets, but I was thinking of replacing the PULSAR mode, which I'm not fond of, so I might check this (how to replace, memory space etc)./\/\/\/ wrote:One other idea that came to mind... replacing the 8 effect settings with 1 constant effect and 8 banks of wavetables. The firmware(s) I mention in the first post to install on my MK2 version of the OA and the feature ones I'll add are based on the last one to date official orgone_accumulator_2.0_for_144MHZ_overclock version of the firmware. Means the Teensy is overclocked to 144MHZ.
The Github page says the code is for both DIY and retail versions. Now I don't have the retail version so it's impossible for me to test.

As I'm offering 4 different firmwares for the MK2 (4 different set of wavetables), I probably should make 4 different threads, but I'm not sure it's alright. So I'm re-organizing the first post and I make here 4 posts one after the other (each one with a set) hoping it's not too much of a mess.

I compiled firmwares with different wavetable sets.
Here is the one I called „FM set".
• Scrotum Lab set 1: FM Synth
Download here.
I can't cover in a video all the sonic palette, cause each oscillator has a set of 16 different waveforms (with interpolation in between for smooth transition) and each control button (red, white, black) affects the waveforms differently (modulation, pitch-bend, LFO, FM, pulsar, effects... See manual from original Orgone Accumulator version for more details), but I can say that the possibilities are infinite!
Video 1
No effect added.

Video 2
No effect added.
Video 3
No effect added.
Video 4
Reverb only the first 18 secs. No effect after.

I compiled firmwares with different wavetable sets.
Here is the one I called „Digital set".
• Scrotum Lab set 2: Digital
Download here.
You can hear the Orgone with this set here while I’m changing some parameters by hand (pot & switch). No cable used. No effect added. Main out from Orgone goes directly to audio interface.
Each track on Bandcamp has a brief description under „about this track“.
AUDIO
PATCH IDEA
A patch you can try with this set but also with all others.
No cable used.
EFX select = TWIN
Effect switched ON on B and C
CX: is ON (so C affects 2)
FM: is ON
Fix: is OFF
Shape: is OFF
A: not involved
B: start full CCW (also select as you wish / turn pot)
C: full CCW (also check around the 0 area)
Mod wave: start full CCW (also select as you wish / turn pot)
Scan: full CW (means position is on C)
Effect: 90%
Index: 10 to 30% (turn pot after)
Freq: start full CCW
Tune: full CW (turn pot after)
Fine: not involved
So same with effect DIST 1 or effect DIST 2.
You can also slowly scan from C to B (turn Scan pot from C to B)
Check also with Fix switched ON.
Here is the one I called „Digital set".
• Scrotum Lab set 2: Digital
Download here.

Hey batchas - what do you mean by Stereo here?batchas wrote:I compiled firmwares with different wavetable sets.

It's referring to the name of the wavetables I'm loading on the OA./\/\/\/ wrote:Hey batchas - what do you mean by Stereo here?batchas wrote:I compiled firmwares with different wavetable sets.

For this set, I took them from the "AKWF_stereo" ones:
https://www.adventurekid.se/AKRTfiles/A ... index.html
EDIT: developing a bit to make it more clear.
adventurekid took audio files and converted these single cycle waveforms to different formats.
If you listen to the original audio files he took for the AKWF_stereo, then you hear a stereo effect (more left or more right), while all others are recorded in mono.
But the mono audio output on the Orgone itself won't allow to hear the difference between the stereo and the mono ones. I just found them interesting and made this set.
