DIY

Post by batchas » Mon Dec 23, 2019 1:18 pm

Some DIY... just for fun.
As I can't drill decent holes in a alu case with the tools I have, to add the mixer I did, I decided to add it externally. But I did not have any dedicated panels for this, so I ended up doing so.
In german it's what we call a Bastlerei!

Oh... And I also repaired my good old EH Memory Man pedal. Been years waiting in a box since it stopped working!

Even added a mod. Normally I don't modify old gear, but I'm really glad I did it.
I'll show it as soon as I make something with it and the BugBrand system.

Is it a 5 channel mixer?

Yes it is. It was the mixer I did for the small cases I built, cases which had no success. As I had 1 PCB left and wanted to jam out of the studio, I thought I'd make this

Nice one! I love using the spaces on the sides of panels.

Beat this, Bugbrand! (Note: This is an 18-band vocoder (LP-16BP-HP). Although you only see two circuit boards and the PSU, there are actually five circuit boards -- the 6" x 8" board on the right is a stack of two boards, and the 4" x 6" board on the left is a stack of three boards. There is also a panel board. In this picture, the wiring is not finished, and the massive heat sink has not yet been installed on the back.

Yes, it all works, but I'm not completely happy with the preamps and on-board oscillator, which are creating some cross-talk and noise.

Ha, I'll never beat that - thought every now & again about all the constituents of vocoders but so unlikely I'd get such things going - one day one day..
