I used to have a massive supply of grey Rean knobs (bought the last 300 or so from Rapid) and am gutted that they aren't made anymore. My favourite knobs to put on a synth without a doubt.

They ARE being made again -- http://www.rapidonline.com/mechanical-f ... er-32-0475

Can't condone the use of grey though....

As in 'Where does one find the ten turn pots you used? (and associated counting dials)'
Maybe I'm putting words into your mouth but it is easier to judge what is meant when given a complete sentence!

Anyways, I used:
TT ones and Spectrol ones - I can't remember now which ones I preferred.
And then the smaller ones of these for the counting dial.

That's brilliant news, nice one for letting me know! Grey is for Plan B stuff only, the Bug is too colourful to ruin with grey.

BugBrand knob colour coding

Post by synchromesh » Fri Mar 06, 2015 5:25 am

Hi folks,

Rather than start a new thread I thought I'd post my question here, since it already mentions the Re'an knobs.

I'm :banana: -ing some Doepfer modules and I've decided to adopt the BugBrand "standard" for my modular (well, the Eurorack stuff anyway - haven't decided what to do with the Best Of CGS panels yet...). The jack colours are well-documented*, but I can't find a list of the knob colours and their significance anywhere - if BugBrand could comment, that would be most appreciated.

Looking at photos of BugBrand systems I've come up with a tentative list:

Yellow = Input level
Green = Output mix
Blue = CV level
Red = e.g. delay time?
Orange = ?

But I'm not sure about any of it... :cloud:

(* Blue = CV in, Red = CV out, Yellow = Audio in, Green = Audio out)

Yep, you got it.

Orange is just a 2nd-ary option for things that may be red.

Hey Tom, is this the wire you use to make the MTA100 power cables too?

Apologies if slightly off topic but does anyone know if it's possible to power Eurorack (with the right headers) from the "red" boxes such as the 5 space one that houses the Chirper and the DC power supply?

You'd need a different DCDC for +/-12V - these are +/-15V.

Those are what I did use, but then ordered custom ones with longer shafts. I can usually spare some and easier international shipping than Rapid.
