Ah, I didn't know that. Explains why I've not seen a white one in the UK.

If the price is sub-£450 on this it could be a goer. I was thinking of getting a second Erebus, but if this is only a few quid more ...

I don't think I'll be the first kid on the block to own a KARP desktop, but I will own one next year. I love my KARP rev1 but no way was I going to buy a second one with keyboard. Come on Korg we NEED (ok maybe just want ) a 2600.

Apparently the 650 price at Guitar Center is gone.

I bet someone tried to price match and the company got some phonecalls.

Shame.

A Karp 2600 and an MS-50 mini would make me happy for years.

This is the perfect form factor for me, hope it goes on pre-order soon. Mini-keys are definitely not for me, although I get why some like them. Price point and space are both important factors for me, so shaving a couple hundred dollars off helps a lot. But the sound is always most important and this is an Arp!

@thevegasnerve Pre-orders are up. It's already a listed item on most store websites.

At a GC near me, they had the MK3 (orange/black) on a closeout for only $599. Now that the desktop is announced , I will wait for that instead of getting the keyboard version.

I have played with it, and it is just like the vintage ARPs to me. It is not as easy to coax smooth sounds out of it, like a Moog or Oberheim, but it can make some very bizarre sounds that I have not been able to duplicate with a Moog.

i am all for a 2600 remake as well.
For Sale/Trade: 14U 84 hp Euro case . Willing to trade towards MU Modules, Dotcom Box 11 case, and Moogerfooger and Minifooger pedals!

Hmmm, the Sweetwater deal must have been for the USA sales only. Having done a bit of searching, the whiteface was listed by quite a few UK retailers last year such as Juno and Dolphin. So why can't I find any sign of them on eBay.co.uk? In contrast, the fairly grim-looking black and gold Odysseys are still available new in some outlets.

Doesn't matter. White was exclusive to a few select dealers. Rev 2 was a special edition that went to lots of big box online vendors. Black/orange is the standard production.

So the first would have less made, and less would shown up on the used market.

In person, the black/gold is sharp looking, though you have to like the colored rubber nipple tips on the sliders. Though, that's true with the white face too.

Anyone know the UK retail on this? One dealer says list is £623, street £519.00.

Both figures are a bit higher than I expected given the US price of $600. That's about £450.

Actually Americans don't pay tax on mailed items unless you live in the state it ships from. So like 95% of the people won't be paying tax. To make you feel worse, most stores will periodically either run public promotions or you can contact and usually get around a 10% discount, so it will probably be closer to $540 US with free shipping for those that really shop around.

EDIT: Just got a Labor Day Promo email form perfectcircuitaudio.com. 10% off everything. Just enter LABORDAY10 at checkout. $539.99 with free shipping for the preorder for those who are looking.

Anyone using one of these for anything substantial yet? I'm tempted but the demos aren't doing anything for me....

This starts unpromisingly sweet, but is pretty good once it gets going.

That white noise crash is straight out of John Foxx's Metamatic, which is almost all ARP Odyssey.

Glad they're finally releasing a desktop. Did not care for the mini keys on this particular synth, better to just leave them off in my opinion.

Korg should reissue everything they can. Polysix, Mono/Poly, MS50, 2600, PS3300 :hihi:

I haven't had time all summer to record anything, but once in a while I plug headphones into my Odyssey and get lost for a few hours. It sounds awesomely vintage to me, definitely reminds me of old monos I sold long ago. The 3 different filters are enough to make it worth it over an old Odyssey to me.
