Not sure, haven't used it as a VCA yet.

There is a switch that makes you choose between VCA or CV for each joystick. Not sure if choosing VCA disables the second CV output.

Seems like the Attenuation functionality is an extra switch so I'd like to believe that it can do all of these simultaneously. That would be :sb:

Have you tried the Attenuation knobs at all?

I'm getting more excited by the minute.

Attentuation does what I'd expect it to do. It attenuates the outgoing cv when att is switched on.

Watching this video:

Some of the points you raised make sense. Trigger needs to be pressed to get the Joystick movements to record; a nice idea, otherwise whenever you switched to Write you'd instantly lose the previous pattern.

Triggers also seem to change step lengths and thus divide/cut the pattern ... not sure. Worth taking a look at what he does though!

This video

shows that the two Triggers change the Memory and Length. :despair:

In the manual it says the following (in Japanese):

CV VCA: it's the VCA's (volume) output ON/OFF switch

MODE is for choosing slave mode or master mode

The explanation of "Write" uses a lot of kanji, which I cannot read well... It does mention something about pushing the "trigger buttons" to overwrite the old memory.

Haha, figuring out how it works is half the charm of buying an "exotic" sequencer or synth :p.

No, I have a printed version. If you want a copy, I could scan it.

Thank you for the offer, I was hoping I could google translate it, so a scan won't be of help.

I think there is a pdf somewhere but I may be wrong. I only have a SE manual but I can help translate parts but mine is much more simple than the J

Well if anyone has a manual for the J please send it my way or upload it here. I'd love to pass it through Google Translate and try to figure out how it works.

I'm also interested in a Driftbox J if anyone decides against keeping it  :hihi:

Hey there.
In case anybody is still interested,
all the different models of Driftboxes have been available on Amazon Japan for some time now - and significantly cheaper than on Ebay.
I just got a Driftbox S a few weeks ago. Everything was superquick, the Driftbox arrived in Germany one week after ordering.
I made a demonstration video of the Driftbox S going through all the basic functions. The video is also featuring the Koma Kommander.
You can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kk-j3w_nic
Enjoy! All the best!
Jo

Woe! Fascinating! Any more demos with the Driftbox and, say, Ct5 and your T-Resonator? Adding a looper with this thing and capturing some soundscapes on the fly would be out of this world!

Hey Jo, did you order from amazon.jp or added it to your cart and then used another amazon ? :hmm:

According to the exhibitors' list, Reon is going to be at SynthFest 2018 so the Korg UK distribution might be happening after all.

I came across most of the Driftbox set in a music store in Umeda, Osaka last year so these prices are current as per October 2017...
(for anyone visiting Osaka, music store is on top floor of Umeda Loft - no secondhand but they had a good selection of eurorack modules, synths etc)

I spoke to the Korg demo guy at Synthfest 2018 on Saturday. Apparently, the J won't be arriving in the UK until 2019 because of the high cost of EU CE certification.

There will be an English-language manual for it, but the poor guy at Korg UK is still trying to work his way round the thing.
